In Key Divisional Contest, Red Sox Prevail!!!!!
In a key AL East match-up, the Red Sox defeat the Rays.
The Red Sox were able to put enough runs on the board last night, winning 10-7 over the Rays at Tropicana Field. Josh Beckett continues to lead the AL in strikeouts, picking up 7 more on his way to his 10th victory of the season. Beckett allowed only 1 run and 4 hits in 7 innings of work. Jason Varitek spurred the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI's, while Jonathan Papelbon closed out the "Sox" win, picking up his 26th save and cashing in on his 10th straight save opportunity.

Scott/Markakis go deep as Orioles down Royals for 2nd straight win!!!!!
Baltimore, MD - The Orioles big bats came out when they needed them tonight, as the O's overcame a 1-run deficit twice on the night to take the victory at Camden Yards. Luke Scott delivered his 14th bomb of the season in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game at 2-2 and Kevin Millar followed that with a 2-out RBI single to plate Ramon Hernandez to give the O's the lead for good. Nick Markakis homered in the bottom of the 7th, which proved to be the game winning blow, a 2-run shot to left field for his 44th and 45th run driven in on the year. Garrett Olson picked up the victory despite walking 5 batters in just 5.0 innings pitched and the George Sherrill delivered a perfect 9th to dethrone the Royals for the second straight night and move to within a game of 4th place in the AL East. Both teams will conclude the series tomorrow before the O's host the Rangers on Independence Day.

Checkmate!!!!! O's win 4-3 to capture series over Royals!!!!!
Baltimore, MD - Adam Loewen may be just what the Orioles needed in leadership to the starting rotation. For the 2nd time in just 2 games, Loewen delivered a quality start and managed to push his record to 2-0 on the year. Adam went a solid 7.0 IP, allowing only 2 run on 6 hits, while recording 7 strikeouts on the night. The O's jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Alex Cintron delivered a 2-out single to center field to plate Guillermo Quiroz. The next inning, Luke Scott, who is becoming one of the household names across the league, delivered again in the series, crushing the first pitch of the inning to right field atop the flag court off of Royals rookie starter Luke Hochevar. The Royals managed to tie the game in the 5th off of an RBI single by Mark Grudzielanek and a Ross Gload sacrifice fly, but the O's would turn it up again in the 6th. Nick Markakis would extend his hitting streak to 14 games with a 400+ foot bomb into the double decker bullpens in left center field to put the O's up 3-2. Kevin Millar would add an RBI single to double the lead heading to the final two innings. After a perfect inning from Jim Hoey in the 8th, George Sherrill came in for the 3rd consecutive night and closed out his 23rd save of the season, despite giving up a home run to start the 9th. The O's improve their win streak to 3 games as they look to host the Rangers starting tomorrow night.

MLB Morning News

Luke Hochevar Takes A Lickin'!!!!!
Luke Hochevar roughed up for 4 runs as the Orioles take home the win.
The Orioles won a close contest with the Royals last night, the final score being 4-3, at Oriole Park. Nick Markakis smacked a solo home run and went 2-for-4 to carry the offense. It was a solid start for Adam Loewen, who went 7.0 innings and allowed 2 runs, to pick up his 2nd win of the season.
The Orioles and Rangers begin a series tonight at Camden Yards as our nation celebrates it's birthday today and Nick Markakis will look to continue setting off the same fireworks he has the last couple weeks, as he attempts to extend his 14-game hitting streak.

Re: Highheat's Orioles (MLB "The Show" '08) Final Attempt!!!!
The three game winning streak is nice, even if it is the Royals, and Lowen has pitched great since entering the rotation.
Luke Scott continues to do quite well for you and Markakis continues to show why he is a superstar on the rise in the AL.
I saw that the Red Sox traded for Jason Kendall. It must be the end of the line for Varitek. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment
