I saw that the Red Sox traded for Jason Kendall. It must be the end of the line for Varitek.
Yeah, hopefully I can build around Scott/Markakis and even Huff is hitting well. Maybe I'll eventually get one or two more big hitters. Same goes for the pitching, Loewen and Cabrera is something I can build around as well.

It looks like the Red Sox are gearing up for a World Title run.

Orioles provide fireworks on Independence Day to soar out of AL East basement!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Orioles came in to tonight looking to finally get out of the dumpster in the AL East. They would do so in huge fashion, by putting up a monsterous 9 runs on 17 hits against one of the worst rotations in baseball. The game didn't exactly get off to a good start for the Orioles, as in the top of the 1st, Josh Hamilton hit his first of two home runs on the evening to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd however, the explosion took place, as the O's batted around to score 6 times in the inning. Adam Jones knocked in a run on an RBI ground out to get it going, then the Birds singled 3 straight times off the bats of Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, and Aubrey Huff to plate the next 5 runners. Roberts' RBI single was career hit number 1,000 for him. Later in the 6th, after Hamilton's 2nd home run of the night to cut the lead to 6-3, Freddie Bynum delivered a 2-run home run of his own to stretch the lead to 8-3. The O's then added one more on Roberts 4th hit of the night to make it 9-3. The Rangers got a 2-run home run of their own in the 9th from Milton Bradley, but is was far too short to even be acknowledged as the O's won their 4th straight. Daniel Cabrera picked up his 9th win of the year by going 7.0 IP, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and striking out a season high 9 hitters. Both teams will be back at it tomorrow as the O's continue to try and make things a little more interesting in the AL.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to see how the 2nd half of the season unfolds. I know I'm a long way out of a spot, but you never know. Only time will tell. I'll fight until the end though.

                  Astros Defeat Top Rival!!!!!

As usual, no love lost as Astros beat Braves.

It was no contest under the lights at Turner Field last night, as the Astros beat up the Braves 10-3. Darin Erstad was the star at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBI's.

Allowing 4 hits in 6.1 innings, Shawn Chacon was able to pick up his 7th win of the season with some help from the bullpen.

Jennings goes the distance as Rangers ground Orioles!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Orioles were evicted only one day after moving out of the AL East basement. The Rangers sent them right back down after a clutch pitching performance from starter Jason Jennings. Jennings went the distance for his 1st complete game of the year, allowing 1 run on 11 hits and striking out 2 batters. Most importantly, he was clutch when the O's had runners on base, as Jennings got the "Birds" to ground into 5 double plays on the night. Joaquin Arias got it all started in the 2nd inning with a 2-run home run and then added an RBI double in the 3rd to pace the Rangers offense. All 11 hits from the Orioles were singles, as their 4 game winning streak came to an end. The two teams will decide the series tomorrow night before the O's have an off day.

Orioles big bats rally to take series against Rangers!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The "Birds" got the offense rolling after getting behind early to win 7-4 and take the series against the visiting Rangers at Oriole Park this afternoon. Texas took an early 1st inning lead when Josh Hamilton delivered for the 3rd time in the series, a 2-run home run onto the flag court in right to give Texas a 2-0 lead. Luke Scott cut the lead in half in the last of the 1st with his 16th homer of the year, also onto the flag court off of Rangers' starter Kason Gabbard. After a Michael Young home run in the 3rd and an RBI groudout from Broussard in the 4th to put the Rangers up 4-1, the Oriole offense exploded. They batted around to score 4 times in the 5th, the big blow, a 3-run home run from Nick Markakis to left field to give the Orioles the lead and they would never look back. Alex Cintron added an RBI double in the 8th and Chris Roberson completed a 4-for-4 day with an RBI single to push the lead to 7-4 for the "Birds". O's starter Steve Trachsel struggled early, but then settled down long enough to earn the victory before having to leave in the 7th due to a broken nail on his pitching hand. Chad Bradford and George Sherrill delivered perfect innings in the 8th and 9th to finish off the Rangers. Baltimore hits the road in Toronto for three, then off to Boston for three before the All-Star game.
