Baltimore, MD - The Orioles collected 13 hits tonight in route to a 5-3 win over Detroit. The Orioles erased an early 1-0 Tigers lead in the 4th, when they batted around to score 4 times in the inning, all RBI singles, the go-ahead one by Nick Markakis. The Tigers cut into that lead to make it 4-3, but Melvin Mora would add the insurance in the 7th with a solo home run, his 13th of the year. George Sherrill would pitch a perfect 9th inning, picking up his 27th save of the year giving starter Daniel Cabrera his 10th win of the season.

Oh man, I made a mistake. I forgot to do my AA/AAA call-ups/send downs on the 1st and 10th of July. I will do that following my game on the 20th seeing it's near. I do apologize, it just slipped my mind. You guys need to keep me straight. LOL!

"Oriole Magic" "Birds" overcome 3-0 deficit late to take series lead!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - Something special was in the air at Camden Yards tonight. The O's fell behind 3-0 before coming all the way back to defeat the Tigers 4-3 in the 9th. The Tigers seemed to be in control, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead when Ivan Rodriguez scored on a double-play ball from Placido Polanco. Miguel Cabrera then smashed a solo home run off of O's starter Radhames Liz in the 4th and Carlos Guillen would later double in the same inning to make it a 3-0 game. The O's started the comeback in the 7th when Kevin Millar reached safely on an error by Guillen with 2 outs. Alex Cintron got a bloop single to score Millar cutting the lead to 3-1. In the 8th, the Tigers turned the ball over to the bullpen and Aubrey Huff made the Tigers pay with a 2-run home run with 2 outs to tie the game at 3-3. In the 9th, the Tigers were unable to muster anything against reliever Dennis Sarfate. In the home half however, Kevin Millar led off the inning with a double down the line in left. Chris Roberson came in to run for Millar. Melvin Mora then sacrificed Roberson to 3rd with a beautifully executed bunt down the 1st base line. With one out and a 2-0 count, Alex Cintron would then put an end to the comeback, with an enormous single off the scoreboard in right field sending Camden Yards into a frenzy and giving the Orioles an exciting victory. Both teams will wrap up the series tomorrow night.

                            Santana Achieves Milesone, 1500 K's!!!!!

Johan Santana reaches 1500 career strikeouts, but team suffers loss.

The Reds scored just enough runs at home yesterday, sending the Mets to a 3-1 defeat at Great American Ballpark. Edinson Volquez worked 8 strong innings, allowing only 4 hits and striking out 8 to get win number 6 of the season. Javier Valentin was a catalyst on offense, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate for the Reds.

Javier Valentin will look to add to his 14-game hitting streak as the two teams conclude their series this evening.
