    Yankees Defeat Top Rival!!!!!

Yankees defeat Red Sox in a match-up of long-time rivals.

The Yankees out-scored the Red Sox 5-1 yesterday before a testy crowd of 34,329 fans at Fenway Park. Alex Rodriguez gave the club a spark offensively, getting 2 hits -- including a solo home run -- in 5 at-bats. Mike Mussina gave up 1 run and 5 hits over 6 innings of work, and that was good enough for him to record his 9th win of the season, and 3rd in a row.

The finale of the series will see the Yankees and Ian Kennedy (4-2, 3.30) facing a tough match-up this afternoon against the Red Sox' ace, Josh Beckett (12-4, 3.39).

Grand Finale!!!!! Anderson's slam helps Angels outlast O's!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - In the finale of the series against the Orioles, the Angels got a grand slam home run in the 7th inning from Garrett Anderson, snapping a 1-1 tie. The Angels managed to plate a total of 5 runs in the inning to go up 6-1. The Orioles made a run, getting a 3-run homer from Luke Scott in the bottom of the 8th to cut the lead to 6-4, and then Freddie Bynum took closer Francisco Rodriguez over the wall in left to make it a one-run game, but Rodriguez retired the next 3 hitters to earn his 29th save and send the O's fans home disappointed. Picking up the win was Jon Garland, improving to 9-8 on the year and Adam Loewen suffered the loss, dropping his 3rd straight decision after starting 2-0. The O's are off to Yankee Stadium with a series with the first place Yankees to end the month.

              July 28th, 2008

              Kevin Correia Falters Late, Loses!!!!!

Taking advantage of Kevin Correia's fatigue, Diamondbacks go ahead for good late.

The Diamondbacks beat the Giants 4-2 yesterday, as the 27,001 fans at AT&T Park were not enough to spur the home club to victory. Doug Davis worked 8 solid innings, giving up only 2 runs on 7 hits to get his 10th win of the season. Stephen Drew knocked in 2 runs and smacked a home run to lead the offensive charge.

Tonight the Diamondbacks are in San Diego opening the series with Juan Cruz (6-1, 2.35) opposing Greg Maddux (9-6, 3.54) and the Padres.

Yankees keep rolling, dominate O's 8-1 at the Stadium!!!!!

New York, NY - Chien-Ming Wang picked up his 14th win of the year as he chases the Cy Young award by going 6.0 innings, allowing just 4 hits as the Yankees crushed the Orioles 8-1 tonight at Yankee Stadium. Jason Giambi provided 2 RBI's and Morgan Ensberg delivered his 1st home run as a Yankee, a 3-run shot off of Jason Johnson in the 6th. Daniel Cabrera lasted until the 5th inning and didn't have the stuff we've seen this year, as he suffered the loss, dropping his record to 11-6. The Yanks and "Birds" will tune it up again for Game 2 of the series tomorrow night.

I bet you're bummed about Denver's rapid fall from grace late this season. That was horrible the way they were beat down last night.

I guess your goal now has to be to beat out Tampa Bay for fourth place. Don't finish last!!!

Yeah, pretty bummed. Not so much that they blew it, I don't think they would've done much in the playoffs anyways, but the fact that they canned Shannahan. Makes no sense to me. It wasn't his fault the defense sucked and all the injuries they had. Now Cutler has to build around and learn another offense. Stupid if you ask me, but maybe Marty Shottenheimer will find his way there. Thanks guys for following. I plan on this going on for a long time. I need to get this first season finished up so I can get on to another one. I don't think I'm picking up '09, just going to continue this one. I spent too long getting everything set up perfectly the way I wanted with sliders this year, and I really don't want to go through that again. Thanks for always following and I'll get back into playing after the new year.
