Yeah, I'm hoping he goes or he qualifies to be sent down. I hate pitching with him. Every fastball, no matter where I try to place it, goes right down the gut and gets crushed. I hope Cabrera and Olson stick around and I can build on them.

Kent Collects Big RBI, His 1500th!!!!!

Jeff Kent drives in his 1500th run, helping squad to victory.

In front of a hostile crowd at Petco Park last night, the Dodgers humiliated the host Padres 14-3, sending the crowd of 36,205 fans home more bitter than having to acknowledge Missouri as a state. Andre Ethier provided the offense, collecting 3 hits -- including a home run -- and 2 RBI's. Hiroki Kuroda allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings of work, to earn his 6th win of the season.

The Dodgers will have their big gun on the mound in the series finale tonight, as Brad Penny (7-2, 1.93) will take on the Padres and Jake Peavy (1-1, 4.56) at Petco Park.

I've got a question for you.

Since the Orioles are a "small market" team, how are you handling the development and training of the team? Or are you letting the AI handle it?

As far as my Reds are concerned, I have signed one of the top farm directors and have beefed up the training money. Of course, as part of my goals, I am starting to cut the payroll so that I can get the team to be "in the black".

Also, you may want to check Guthrie's progression. His control attribute may be dropping. I think that in the scouting report (shown on his player card), his control is a "D" grade, but I'm not that sure.

See-Saw battle sees Red Sox complete sweep of Birds!!!!!

Boston, MA - The Orioles continued their struggle to win games late tonight in Boston. The O's got a solo home run by Luke Scott in the 2nd and a sacrifice fly by Alex Cintron in the 4th to give O's starter Daniel Cabrera a 2 run lead to work with. In the 6th, that lead evaporated on back to back home runs by David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez to even the game at 2-2. In the 7th, the Sox got the first two runners aboard and Alex Cora grounded into a double play to give the home team the lead at 3-2. The O's fought back in the 8th when Ramon Hernandez homered over the green monster to even the game again at 3-3, but the Red Sox would walk off in the bottom of the 9th as Julio Lugo doubled off the monster to score Coco Crisp all the way from first. The Orioles head home in look of some hope as they host the Pirates tomorrow night.

Well, I just blew another lead. Yeah, it's frustrating, but yet on the flipside, this game is still so awesome to play every night. I just hope somehow I can turn it up some and pull out some wins and get things back to being respectable. Looking forward to the off season, lol, which is only 100 games away.

Yeah, the AI handles all of that for me. I don't have the time to get into all of that stuff. I don't even want to. I'm fine with that. I just handle the send ups/downs, the free agency in the off season and the trades, which are all cpu offered, but I allow myself one rejection a season (in case they try to rip off my best player from me). Right now, Guthrie's control is an "F"!!!!! LOL!! I love the description of his.

No wonder why you are having problems with Guthrie's pitching. Because his control is "F", he's prone to throwing many mistakes and missing the targets.

I know that the CPU will offer players through the "rumor mill", but how do you know which player, or players, the the other team wants in return?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but the way the trades are made is, at the beginning of the month, I put the players on the block, the trades are made only when after a game, it pops up on the screen stating. Team A wants to offer me Player A for Player B, and their names are there. I just hit yes, except for one rejection a year.

Wow. I never see that on the ps2. Maybe it's a next gen (360, ps3) thing. Either that, or the players that I put on the trade block are garbage. Considering I am managing the Reds, it could be the later. Maybe I should put Dunn and "Junior" on the trade block now and see what happens.

Yeah, I had last years version of the "Show", and the trade system was broken in it. The AI never offered trades. Maybe they never fixed it on the PS2.

                              Dodgers Win Series 2-1!!!!!

Dodgers defeat Padres at home, winning two out of three on the road.

Playing at night and on the road, the Dodgers secured a 5-3 win against the Padres in front of 35,119 fans in San Diego. The big hitter was Andre Ethier, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI's. With a big boost from his bullpen, Brad Penny earned his 8th win of the season, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs in just 5.1 innings of work. Pitcher Brad Penny had to leave early after getting injured (shoulder tightness). As a result, he's day-to-day.

Tonight the Dodgers are in Detroit opening the series with Derek Lowe (7-1, 3.44) opposing Jeremy Bonderman (5-2, 3.79) and the Tigers.

O's rally, but walk the plank against Bucs!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Pirates continued to play good baseball in an inter-league affair against the O's tonight at Camden Yards. The "Bucs" got a 3-run home run in the 6th off the bat of Nate McLouth to give the Pirates a 4-0 lead. The O's made a great comeback attempt by getting an RBI double from Nick Markakis and a Luke Scott sacrifice fly to cut the lead in half in the 6th. The O's then cut the lead to one when Alex Cintron homered in the 8th. The game was turned over to Matt Capps in the 9th to try and preserve the win for starter Ian Snell, and he did just that when Freddie Bynum flied out to right to end the ballgame with a runner on base. The O's have lost 5 straight and 8 of their last nine as they continue to look for answers as they seem to be on their way to becoming the worst team in baseball this season. The series continues tomorrow night.
