Yeah, when I went to the Boston/Tampa Bay game down at Tropicana Field in Tampa a few years back, it was about 50/50 Red Sox/Rays fans. I was rooting for Boston, though I didn't care too much either way since I like the Rays a good deal too.

O's squeak out nail biter over Red Sox!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - What a night at Camden Yards as both the O's and Red Sox provided the fans in town with great pitching performances. Daniel Cabrera picked up his 7th win of the season by going 6.2 IP and allowing only one run, a solo shot by Jacoby Ellsbury in the 3rd inning. Jon Lester was equally as good as he went 6.0 IP, allowing only 2 runs, both coming in the 6th inning on a 2-RBI single by Aubrey Huff which gave the Orioles the lead and capped the only scoring of the night for both teams. Boston had a huge opportunity in the 9th inning when Orioles closer George Sherrill continued to give the skipper of the "Birds" grey hairs. George walked both Manny Ramirez and J.D. Drew to begin the inning. Dustin Pedroia was unsuccessful in a sacrifice attempt as Sherrill gunned down Ramirez at 3rd base for the 1st out. Sherrill then got Julio Lugo to fly out to shallow left to record out number 2, and earned his 16th save of the season when he got pinch hitter Sean Casey to hit a dribbler in front of the plate. On a side note, Jay Payton went 2 for 3 on the day that the O's placed him along with Chris Ray on the trade block. The Orioles have won 2 of 3 against the Sox and will try to take the series as these two teams will try and match the drama of the first three games in the finale tomorrow night.

Thanks man. Anxious to get back into this, I picked up Tiger Woods and have been playing it the last two nights. I'll get a game in soon, maybe tomorrow.

                  Yankees Pick Up The Win!!!!!

It's the Yankees over the Twins.

The Yankees were able to sneak out a one-run win against the Twins yesterday, scoring a 9-8 victory at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. He only had 1 official at-bat -- and he banged out a hit -- but Hideki Matsui drove in 1 run for the winners. After starter Mike Mussina departed, Ross Ohlendorf came into a tie gam and managed to earn a win, his 2nd of the season, tossing 3.1 innings of relief and allowing 1 run on 3 hits.

In the series finale tonight at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Yankees send Darrell Rasner (2-3, 5.48) to the mound while Boof Bonser (3-4, 5.75) gets the call for the Twins.

Baltimore, MD - Bartolo Colon was the man tonight at Camden Yards. With the Red Sox losing 2 in a row against the O's, Bartolo Colon took the hill and delivered a complete game shutout, allowing only 4 hits in the process to improve his record to 6-2 on the season and keep the Red Sox a 1/2 game in front of the Yankees. Bullpen Failures Lead To Victory For Cardinals!!!!!

Pirates bullpen falters as Cardinals come back to win.

The Cardinals needed extra innings to beat the Pirates at home last night, but they prevailed in 10 innings by the score of 2-1, sending the 44,461 fans in attendance at Busch Stadium away on a happy note. The hitting star was Ryan Ludwick, who had 1 RBI and was 2-for-2 at the plate. Starter Braden Looper picked up a no-decision, working 7 innings and allowing only 1 run, his 6th quality start of the season. Kyle McClellan was able to earn the win (his 3rd of the season) in the extra frames, working 1 inning and allowing no runs.

The Cardinals and Brad Thompson (0-0, 0.00) head to Washington this evening to start a set with the Nationals, who counter with John Lannan (3-6, 6.83).

O's bats are put to rest again as Twins even series!!!!!

Minneapolis, MN - Once again the O's were held to just one run on the scoreboard. This time it wasn't enough to pull through. The O's got that run in the very first innings when Luke Scott homered to left center to give the "Birds" an early 1-0 lead. The game remained that way until the 6th inning when the "Twinkies" got a go ahead 2-run home run off the bat of Brendan Harris and for insurance got an RBI triple from Michael Cuddyer to plate 3 runs in the inning. Minnesota added one more in the 7th and Dennis Reyes and Joe Nathan combined to shut out the O's in the 9th allowing starter Glen Perkins to pick up his 5th win of the season to even his record to 5-5. Nick Markakis went down in pregame warmups with a pulled leg muscle and will miss 1-6 days. The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow night.
