Single-A Baseball on The Show? Un-Flocking-Believable! Go Myrtle Beach Pelicans!

    MyrtleBeachPelicansLogo.PNG

Hello beach-goers! Welcome to Myrtle freakin' Beach, where our summers are hot and our babe tourists are hotter!

However, as much as American's love the beach, the sand, and the cool waves, there's something that American's love even more; baseball. When you add the average American's two favorite things together, you get us..the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the class-A affiliate of the
    Texas written.jpg.

Now I know what you're thinking. How in the world am I planning on bringing single-A baseball action to THE SHOW? Since our buddies at THE SHOW didn't provide us with playable single-A teams, what I've done is I've transformed what was formally known as double-A in the game, to advance single-A. Right now every double-A team in my game has correct single-A pitching staffs and single-A starting lineups. Essentially, I'll be using the Frisco RoughRiders team uniforms on THE SHOW, but with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans roster. It's not the most convenient option, but it's the most reasonable. All teams I play will be referred to as single-A teams as I'm attempting to hide the fact that I'm forced to use AA team names in the game. I'm a Myrtle Beach Pelicans season ticket holder, the youngest in the franchise's history, as I'm still in my young 20's. I will be calling up/sending down players as it happens in real life, so don't get too used to these players, as at this level of baseball change happens often.

SEASON BACKGROUND INFORMATION: As many of you know, I've been the manager of the Louisville Bats at the AAA level of the Cincinnati Reds organization for the past 2 seasons on THE SHOW and I've ran a very successful dynasty thread which has made it to the first page of most viewed baseball threads here at Operation Sports, thanks to all of my dedicated followers in the past. Unfortunately for my Bats franchise, after moving to Myrtle Beach recently I've lost a lot of interest in the Bats, and have been working on ways for weeks on how to get to play with my now- hometown Pelicans on THE SHOW. What I've done, is I have taken the franchise I was already 15 games in to with Louisville, and I am taking over the record of the RoughRiders in that franchise which was 8-7. So I'll be starting off 8-7 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Frisco uniforms).

I hope this thing lasts a long time and you as the reader enjoy. Please, post as much as you want and keep giving me that 'thumbs up' button. I like to know people are feeling my work. Hope you like the work I put in to this, and I'll try to keep this going as long as I can.

    One last thing to remember..

Thank you for this. Really, thank you. I was very close to moving to Myrtle Beach but it fell through. I've gone to Myrtle almost every year of my life for vacation so I'm definitely going to enjoy this!

The thing I love about your minor league franchises are how you bring everything together with the promotions and whatnot. While its not the most important thing to a franchise it adds a nice sense of realism to it.

Massey gets his first win outside of the Cincinnati organization behind 2 home runs and excellent pitching

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans took to the field in game 16 of the season with a somewhat new look. The uniforms and players remained the same, but there was a new face in the dugout for the Birds in the manager's box. Manager C. Massey, who spent his entire professional baseball career at the management level in the Cincinnati Reds organization made his debut in the Texas Rangers organization and things couldn't have gone much better in his first game in the dugout.

Massey's new offense didn't get going until the 4th inning where the Texas Rangers Baseball America pre-season #2 prospect, catcher Jorge Alfaro popped a solo home run to put the Pelicans on the board.

Jorge Alfaro, the Texas Rangers #2 prospect plated Myrtle Beach's first hit with this solo home run in the 4th inning

Lancaster would answer quickly, however, with a solo shot of their own off the bat of Teoscar Hernandez.

In the 6th inning, Myrtle Beach loaded the bases with only one out. Myrtle Beach's Alfaro drove a line drive to left field with 2 strikes for the go-ahead run but that's all they'd get in the inning. 2-1 MB.

In the top of the 8th inning, Jorge Alfaro drew a four pitch walk with two outs, and Baseball America pre-season #5 prospect, 3B Joey Gallo made em' pay with an absolute crush job that went over the scoreboard in right field. 4-1 MB.

Joey Gallo is the most powerful man in the minor leagues

In the 9th, Myrtle Beach manufactured another run, with 1B Preston Beck driving in run number 5 on the night for the Pelicans.

Myrtle Beach would get great pitching from lefty starter Victor Payano, who went 7 strong innings and relief man Will Lamb who didn't allow a hit in two innings pitched and manager Massey and his Pelicans pick up win 9 on the season and remain in first place in the Carolina League early on in the season.

                        Pelican Standouts
                        SP- Victor Payano - 7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K

Have you seen My Cousin Vinny? If so, you need to find a way to work the Joey (or is it Jimmy?) Gallo scene in. If not, you need to watch it, then work the Gallo scene in.

                          Great work, by the way.

I've never seen the movie but I just watched the trailer for it since you mentioned it. Here's your clip for you.

Joey Gallo's bomb from my first game as manager of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Goes over the scoreboard. "The future Power Ranger" lives.
