Patrick Corbin pitched a gem in the series finale.

      6/20/16
Philadelphia, PA (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks ran their winning streak to seven games on Monday afternoon as they finished off a four game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-0 at Citizens Bank Park. Patrick Corbin tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, while striking out seven to pick up his seventh win.

Aaron Nola (5-6) was the hard luck loser for the Phillies, but he pitched very well. He did not allow a hit through the first four innings, before surrendering a David Peralta single in the fifth. He made just one mistake, but that one cost him as he hung a slider to Yasmany Tomas in the top of the seventh and he put it in the left field seats to put Arizona up 1-0. Nola went seven innings, allowing just the one earned run on just two hits. He struck out two and walked one.

Arizona (47-25) would add a big insurance run in the ninth. Chris Owings led off with a single and stole second. He would score on a David Peralta single.

Daniel Hudson earned his ninth save pitching the ninth. He did allow a hit, but never allowed the runner to advance past first.

Arizona will now head to Toronto for a quick two game series with the American League East leading Blue Jays.

Aaron Sanchez pitched a gem, stifling the DBacks bats.

            6/21/16
Toronto, ON (AP) – Aaron Sanchez shut down the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday evening, ending their seven game winning streak, as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the DBacks 3-0 at Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto. Sanchez tossed a complete game three hitter, allowing just three singles to help the first-place Blue Jays to the victory.

Toronto (43-30) would get all the offense that they would need in the third. Russell Martin doubled to left to open the inning. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error from catcher Chris Herrmann.

Domonic Brown hit a big insurance home run in the fifth inning off of Shelby Miller.

The Jays would get some insurance in the fifth as Domonic Brown hit a two-run home run to left off of Shelby Miller. It was Brown's sixth home run on the season.

The story in this one was pitching. Aaron Sanchez (9-3) kept the Dbacks off balance all night. His ninth win on the season was a masterpiece, allowing just three singles and walking just one. He did not allow a runner past first base. He struck out three.

Shelby Miller (7-4) was the hard luck loser for Arizona. He pitched five innings, allowing the three runs on just three hits. He struck out two and walked none. Archie Bradley made a case for being added back to the starting rotation as he pitched the final three innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out three.

Paul Goldschmidt went 0 for 4 to see his National League leading batting average dip below .350 for the first time since April 24.

The short series concludes on Wednesday afternoon with Robbie Ray (5-4, 3.20) taking the bump against J.A. Happ (5-2, 3.00).

                                ARIZONA 7, PHILADELPHIA 5

Phil Gosselin smashes the first pitch that he saw for a pinch hit home run in the sixth.

                                6/27/16
Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks fell behind 5-0 in the first inning, then rallied for a huge 7-5 come from behind win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night in the opening game of a nine game homestand at Chase Field. Phil Gosselin capped off the comeback, hitting a pinch hit, two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the DBacks their first lead.

Jean Segura has been swinging a hot bat as of late. He had a double and home run on Monday night.
Philadelphia (27-51) jumped on Robbie Ray right from the start, scoring five times in the top of the first, thanks to a big error from third baseman Jake Lamb. With runners on first and second, Darin Ruf hit a one hopper to Lamb at third. Lamb tried turning an inning-ending double play, but his throw to second went into right field, allowing Cesar Hernandez to score. Andres Blanco then hit a ground rule double to right, scoring Williams. David Lough then laced a two-run double down the left field line. Pitcher Vince Velasquez then got into the act with an RBI single to make it 5-0. Only two of the runs were earned.

Velasquez was dominant on the bump, setting down the first nine in a row. But he ran into trouble in the fourth. Jean Segura and Yasmany Tomas led off the inning with back-to-back home runs to get Arizona on the board. One out later, David Peralta hit a long home run to right. It was his Major League leading 25th and cut the Phillies lead to 5-3. Socrates Brito hit an RBI doubel to cut the lead to one to cap off the four run inning.

Jean Segure led off the fifth with a ground rule double. He advanced to third on a Paul Goldschmidt fly out to right, and scored on a two-out RBI single from David Peralta, to tie the game at 5-5.

Phil Gosselin then hit a two-run pinch hit home run off of reliever Edward Mujica, on the first pitch that he saw to put Arizona up 7-5.

The Diamondbacks bullpen then closed down the Phillies. Archie Bradley, Tyler Clippard and Daniel Hudson shut down the Phillies, tossing three scoreless innings with Hudson picking up his 11th save. Robbie Ray (6-3) picked up the win despite giving up those five first inning runs. He went six innings, and allowed 12 hits and the two earned runs.

Paul Goldschmidt went 0 for 4 to see his average drop to .331, fourth in the National League.

The series resumes on Tuesday evening with Charlie Morton (3-6, 4.46) facing Rubby De La Rosa (6-2, 3.62).
