1969-70 record: 23-10, lost in the 3rd round of the NIT.

USC-Aiken is a 29 prestige team, which is a very impressive number for a program that has been independent since it joined the NCAA back in 1949-50. They've slowly improved over the last decade+, getting into the teens in wins fairly consistently before their excellent season last year.

PG: Allen, 5'10", Junior: Started last year and averaged 9 points a game. Not a true point guard, has a nice jumper and is scoring 15 a game on good percentages this year. Awful defender, though he can get some steals.
SG: Cordoba, 6'2", Sophomore: Walk-on who played 12 minutes a game last year. Has some offensive talent, but another horrid defender.
SF: Sweet, 6'7", Senior: 4 year starter who averaged 10 points and 5.5 rebounds last year. At 9.5 and 7.7 this year, as he's struggling from the field. Unlike his other backcourt mates, Sweet is a tremendous defender, who does his best to counterbalance the ineptitude of his fellow starters.
PF: King, 6'7", Senior: 3 year starter. Averaged 8.7 and 6.8 last year. Plays solid defense, gets on the offensive glass. Has some stretch 4 to his game, but he's shooting too much this year. 8-37 from three.
C: Mariscal, 6'8", Junior: Played just 30 total minutes last year in 3 games, which makes he think he was injured. Another guy with an interesting offensive skill set. Really can shoot the three, probably would fare better on the perimeter.
Bench: Seibel is a 6'1" guard off the bench who can shoot the lights out. Dixon is a hybrid 3/4 wing that can defend inside and out, and has an okay three point shot. Couture, a point guard and Urena a post, will each play a few minutes, neither are expected to do much. They have another good shooter in the 6'6" Leal on the bench, but he hardly plays.
Coach: Williams Ferris, 55 years old. 47/79/85/9, 74-59 career record. 5th season at USC-Aiken.
Decent coach, and I'm kind of surprised he didn't bolt after his strong season last year. Was at Vanderbilt for a year and Air Force for 3, before getting the head coaching gig.
They have an interesting team, certainly more depth oriented than most successful teams at this level. Most teams that are strong in level one conferences just have 2, maybe 3, good players and everybody else just chips in. These guys actually win with a group effort.
