Senators Jacobson Outduels Plank In 3-1 Washington Win
Columbia Park,Phila,Pa.-Just as things were starting to roll, the Athletics ran into Senators starting pitcher Beany Jacobson who was absolutely incredible today, going 9 strong innings and allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run while fanning 6 in Washington's 3-1 victory over the A's.The turning point of the game came in the 7th,where with the Senators holding a tenuous 1-0 lead, they finally got to Athletics starter Eddie Plank with a leadoff single by Otis Clymer followed by an RBI triple by Jake Stahl making it 2-0 Washington. Then following a Lave Cross ground out in which Stahl could not advance,Jake took matters into his own hands and successfully stole home when A's catcher Ossee Schreckengost lost the ball in the collision at the plate giving the Senators a hard earned 3-0 lead. From there, the Athletics could muster only a single run on a 7th inning Schreckengost sac fly as the Sens went on to win 3-1.Here's the box score.

Columbia Park,Phila,Pa.-Following their victory yesterday, the Washington Senators came right back with yesterday's starter Beanie Jacobson hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, but all they caught was an angry Chief who took it upon himself to shut down the pesky Senators. For the game,Bender allowed just 5 hits and 1 run(0 earned) while striking out 8 in the complete game 3-1 victory.Offensively, A's rookie phenom Eddie Collins kept up his hot hitting going 2 for 4 with a run scored while Danny Murphy,Socks Seybold, and Chief Bender all had RBI's in the win. Here's the box score.

Wednesday, May 2nd, 1906: Townsend at His Best, Blanks Boston

"He's mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," the Washington manager said. "When Townsend does that, good things happen."

These comments came after Happy Townsend and the Washington Senators shut out the Boston Americans 3-0.

He had 1 strikeout, 1 walk and allowed 6 hits.

              Wednesday, May 2nd, 1906: Boston's Freeman out 3 Weeks

Boston fans will be disappointed to learn that Buck Freeman developed a strained rib cage muscle while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Boston Americans manager that Freeman was expected to miss 3 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

In his stats this season, Freeman has posted a batting average of .241 with 13 hits in 54 at-bats, 1 home run and 4 RBIs. He has also scored 9 runs, walked 5 times and compiled a .305 OBP.

I guess that you got sick of putting in the box scores.

Some of the print in the posts are kind bold and large. I don't think that anyone reading has worse eyesight than me. (That's a possible reason why my friends call me Mr. Magoo). The bold could be used okay in spots but the size of the print should be normal.
