    Seattle - 2

    WP - Lilly (1-1)
    LP - Soriano (2-1)
    S - Foulke (5)
    HR: Long (3), Cameron (2)

Oakland rebounded from last game's defeat with a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Ted Lilly finally gave the A's a good start pitching 6 innings striking out 5 and giving up 2 earned runs. Oakland was given a boost by Terrance Long, who had a home run and 2 RBI's to earn player of the game honors.

    Game 15: Oakland @ Seattle

    Seattle - 2

    WP - Brazelton (2-2)
    LP - Moyer (0-2)
    HR - Phelps (6), Chavez (6), Tejada (4), Dye (4)

Jamie Moyer was plain awful in this game as the A's batter feasted on him in 3 innings, rocking him for 7 earned runs and 2 homers provided by Phelps and Dye. The Seattle bullpen was no better as the A's just pounded the Mariners 17-2. Jermaine Dye was player of the game going 3-6 with a double, home run and 3 RBI's. The win takes the A's to a 12-3 mark, 3 games up on second place Texas.

        Games 16 and 17

        Game 16: Oakland @ Seattle

        Oakland - 3
        Seattle - 0

        WP - Zito (4-0)
        LP - Garcia (0-4)
        S - Foulke (6)
        HR: Dye (5), Durazo (4)

This was a low scoring game dominated by pitching. Zito and Garcia both pitched well, but Zito was more solid pitching 8 shut-out innings to earn his fourth straight win and player of the game honors. Dye and Durazo each hit homers to pace the A's to a 13-3 record and remain in first in the AL West.

        Game 17: Oakland @ Seattle

        Oakland - 5
        Seattle - 10

        WP - Pineiro (1-2)
        LP - Mulder (2-1)
        HR - Chavez (7), Tejada (5)

The Mariners struggling offense struck back as they jumped on Mulder scoring 5 1st inning runs on route to an easy 10-5 victory. Colbrunn was the main offensive star and earned player of the game honors while Mulder only lasted 4 innings in his shortest stint of the season. Oakland mounted a comeback in the latter innings, but it was too little too late

            WP - Hudson (2-1)

            HR - Tejada (6)

The A's bounced back feasting on woeful John Thomson in an easy 8-0 win. Hudson pitched 6 solid innings and Tejada, who had been slumping, has 2 homers in his last 2 games and was player of the game. The win moves Oakland to 14-4 and 5 games up on the Rangers....

                Trades

ESPN reports 2 separate deals between Oakland and Toronto.

The first deal involves Oakland trading Erubiel Durazo, Eric Hiljus, and 1 Budget Point to the Jays for Outfielder Vernon Wells. The A's had been coveting Wells to shore up the outfield and had some extra depth at 1st and starting pitching. The acquisition of Phelps and Brazelton made both Durazo and Hiljus expendable thus allowing the A's some flexibility in dealing for Wells.

In a second deal, the Jays traded catcher Ken Huckaby, 1B Tom Wilson, and pitcher Justin Miller to the A's for OF Chris Singleton. Singleton was expendable after Wells was acquired and the A's wanted to trim some payroll while improving their depth in the minor league system. After the deals, the A's payroll was reduced

Following the deals, the A's re-signed Vernon Wells to a 3 year 12 Budget Point Extension and also re-signed Ted Lilly to a 3 year 1 BP extension Billy Beane is starting to re-tool the team to his liking now
