Re: Mountaineers Are Always Free!!! (NCAA 09)
The winner of the MAC championship game normally gets to go to the Motor City Bowl and the loser to another bowl. I think this year Buffalo agreed to go to the International Bowl before the MAC championship and since Ball State lost the Motor City Bowl got to choose who they wanted. I'm sure they wanted Central Michigan in the Motor City bowl all along because the past two years there has been tons of Central fans there.ESPN NFL 2K5 GREATEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER!

2010 Season Preview
Can West Virginia finally break through and deliver a Big East Title?
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE OFFENSE:
Most people thought Coley White, a sophomore, was the automatic starter this year at quarterback, but they thought wrong as head coach Bill Stewart announced that senior junior college transfer John Davis will start, though White will still get plenty of reps. Stewart likes Davis' ability to sit in the pocket and make throws as West Virginia attempts to become a more balanced team.
The running game will be especially potent with Noel Devine coming back and Terence Kerns anchoring up as his backup. Interestingly, sophomore Ricky Kovatch has taken Will Johnson's job at fullback due to Kovatch's vast improvement over the summer. "I don't give jobs away just because you're a senior," head coach Bill Stewart said. "You have to earn it."
Jock Sanders will be the go-to guy in the passing game, but junior Bradley Starks, a former quarterback, is shaping up to have a fantastic year as well. True freshman blue-chipper Dennis Dunn looks great and should see immediate playing time out of the slot.
The offensive line is nothing to write home about, but there are some bright spots. With a guy like Noel Devine running behind it, he'll make it look good regardless.
Star of the offense: Senior HB Noel Devine
Player that has to step up and become a star: Senior QB John Davis
Unsung star on the rise: Junior WR Bradley Starks
Best pro prospect: Junior WR Bradley Starks
Strength of the offense: Lots and lots of speed.
Weakness of the offense: Inexperience at QB.
Starters:
QB John Davis, SR - 83
HB Noel Devine, SR - 98
FB Ricky Kovatch, SO - 86
WR Jock Sanders, SR - 89
WR Bradley Starks, JR - 87
TE Tyler Urban, JR - 84
LT Don Barclat, JR - 83
LG Derek Hayes, SR - 87
C Gino Gradkowski, JR - 84
RG Josh Jenkins, JR - 84
RT Eric Jobe, SR - 76
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DEFENSE:
The defense looks solid this year, but there is some room for improvement. The secondary looks to be the strong point, with bountiful speed and four of the five starters seniors.
The linebacking corps, as in recent years, looks to be great as well. J.T. Thomas leads the defense with a 97 overall rating and looks to dominate opposing offenses. Pat Lazear and Najee Goode both clock in at 88 and 84 respectively and look to be fearsome this season.
The defense looked great on paper last season, however, and though it performed well at times, we can't forget the games like against Connecticut when the secondary gave up 400+ yards through the air and 550+ overall like against Army. Hopefully, added inexperience will keep that from happening this season.
Star of the defense: Senior OLB J.T. Thomas
Player that has to step up and become a star: MLB Pat Lazear
Unsung star on the rise: Junior MLB Najee Goode
Best pro prospect: Senior OLB J.T. Thomas
Strength of the defense: Experience. Nine out off 11 defensive starters are seniors and the other two are juniors. Next year scares me, but it's time to make a statement this year.
Weakness of the defense: Lack of depth at the defensive end positions.
Starters:
DE Scooter Berry, SR - 91
DE Larry Ford, SR - 82
DT Chris Neild, SR - 89
LB J.T. Thomas, SR - 97
LB Pat Lazear, SR - 88
LB Najee Goode, JR - 84
CB Brandon Hogan, SR - 87
CB Eddia Davis, SR - 82
FS Robert Sands, JR - 86
SS Sidney Glover, SR - 89
SS Franchot Allen, SR - 88
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SPECIAL TEAMS:
The special teams unit loses Scott Kozlowski, who was an amazingly accurate kicker last year and brings in unproven redshirt freshman Montrell Godfrey for kicking, punting, and kickoffs. Jock Sanders will handle kick and punt returns while Noel Devine will handle just kickoff returns.
Starters:
K Montrell Godfrey, FR - 74
P Montrell Godfrey, FR - 73
KR Noel Devine, SR - 99
KR Jock Sanders, SR - 99
PR Jock Sanders, SR - 99
KOS Montrell Godfrey, FR - 74
LS Gino Gradkowski, JR - 84

Re: Mountaineers Are Always Free!!! (NCAA 09)
I'm trying to become a balanced USC-esque team that can run and throw the ball. I've been moving away from the spread as I have a lot more fun running the ball up the middle and such, not out of the shotgun exclusively. That said, I still use a lot of spread tactics. I still run a fair amount of shotgun plays, but I'd say they only make up 10-20% of my offense compared to the 90% (give or take) WVU runs in real life.
I'm really excited about my season because this is my best rated team yet with an awesome and experienced defense. Here's how our ratings stack up to previous years...
2008: 84 OVR
2009: 86 OVR
2010: 89 OVR
I'm not getting much preseason love for some reason, but this team has a great chance at winning the Big East IMO if things work out right!Comment

Bayou Bengals Upset in Morgantown!!!
Unranked Mountaineers pull off 31-24 stunner over the #8 team in the nation
Morgantown, WV (AP) - This was just what the doctor ordered. There's nothing like starting off the season 1-0 with a win over the #8 team in the country to get a season started off in the right direction.
The unranked West Virginia Mountaineers (0-0, 0-0 Big East) knocked off the #8 LSU Tigers (0-0, 0-0 SEC) 31-24 in front of the home fans at Mountaineer field by a score of 31-24. The Mountaineers overcame four turnovers to knock off LSY and outgained the Tigers 316 yards to 223.
"The defense stepped up today," explained West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart. "We just came right on out to play and executed extremely well on our way to a huge win."
The Mountaineers fell behind 17-3 with 25 seconds left in the first half before Jock Sanders provided and amazing spark with a 100 yard kickoff return for a score to make it 17-10 LSU at halftime. From there, West Virginia would outscore the Tigers 21-7 to nab a 31-24 victory over the Tigers of the SEC.
The quarterback situation remains a bit settled in Morgantown, however, as bot John Davis and Coley White got plenty of snaps and both had their troubles. John Davis completed 75% of his passes for 142 yards, but he threw a costly interception in the firs half. Likewise, Coley White also tossed up a couple of interceptions.
"John Davis will be our starter again next week," Stewart said, "but Coley will also get some playing time like he did today. We like both of them."
The Mountaineers got a huge spark from true freshman blue-chip wide receiver Dennis Dunn, who caught four passes from 65 yards, including a huge 33 yard reception which set up the Mountaineers inside the five yard line to set up the winning score by a Coley White four yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
There's no rest for the weary, however, and West Virginia will have another hurdle to climb next week against a top 10 ranked Virginia Tech squad in the Battle for the Black Diamond Trophy.
