    Very true. Will try it tonight and see how it works out. I will say that picking a hole and THEN using sprint through it has been all the difference in the world on the user side of things. Had a 26 carry 110 yard game with Zeke yesterday...and actually made a goal line plunge.

        I broke a 40 yard run with Bell yesterday and it felt great after been stuffed the first few runs. Also ratings play a big part of it also, running vs Green Bay and New England felt totally different.

              Yes, I completely agree, if a lot of people complain rushing is too hard then it's possible EA makes the lineman all generic again and a 68 OVR is pretty much the same as an 85 OVR and we are back to square one...

              I am hoping that isn't the case and the Madden team is not so reactionary but it's a valid fear considering the past.

                I hope they keep it so the running game is a grind. However, what I've noticed is some rather questionable line play when going against a 3-4 defense.

                The offensive tackles repeatedly ignore the OLB's and double team block the DE's. They need to clean that up as that it causing some unrealistic edge penetration and immediate backside pursuit that some folks have been experiencing. I can't help but wonder if some of the new ratings assigned to offensive linemen are at least part of this issue. Keep the run mechanic, but knuckle down on the blocking assignments.

                  If this is true that's vet exciting, I like to build up teams from scratch in franchise but it doesn't always seem like there's really a reward for developing a great offensive line.

                    Yeah I never even did a whole lot with my lineman either, apparently we will need to now..it's great..assuming that they don't patch that aspect out

                      This and I also fear the trade difficulty will disappear when people realize they can't cheese the CPU (as much) any more. I hope if EA does make things "easier" they make it optional for those who want it but leave the difficulty for the rest of us.

                        it'll be just so disappointing if ea gets it wrong with the patches again. and then one would have to ask, wtf is that simulation mode for anyhow...

                          It will take some time getting used to. My initial experience was that I hated it. It just felt wonky especially as the back accelerates to the hole. Same thing in the return game. The issue for me is the running animation itself. It feels like there is no agility. You essentially have to run in a straight line otherwise it feels like you are running with a lineman. No hips at all. 1st game I used Broncos using a back by committee approach. 2nd game I used Howard for the bears and it was much improved. But still felt like I was limited in what I could do. Its clear to me ratings matter and you need several games to assess what needs to be tuned.

                            Has anyone who has had trouble with backside pursuit tried making use of the inside zone split plays which feature a TE pulling across the formation?

                            These weren't very popular in M18, but they did actually work quite well if the D was in a wide 9 alignment and they had fast players at DE. The only rub was that neither users nor the CPU really favored wide 9 sets, IME.

                              I really like the running game this year for the user. I've had some really good games, decent, and down right awful. It's been fun though. Now the CPU run game is a different story, lol.

                                Ya man I think user running is perfect right now. So scared they are going to ruin it. I’m going to try the slider tweaks posted above and if that fixes the cpu inability to run this is going to be a great year of Madden for me.
