I agree, but that isn't what is happening in these gifs or videos that are being posts.

But you implied that he changed the play and added man to a zone. The play by default is a mix of man and zone.

" This is that "Lock" coverage or something like that or you manned out of a match zone play? Cover 6 or 9?"

In my slant example the WR makes his cut in for the slant and my DB's reaction to the cut is to turn and cut towards the sideline away from the WR and the throw that is coming.

I can see how it could be viewed as a guy jumping the route in the Out Route examples provided, you could theoretically say the LB was jumping the in route had he made his move before the TE had already cut out, but that is not really what is happening in the game. The WRs are making their cuts and the DB's then react by cutting in the wrong direction. They are not breaking to jump the route before the cut is made like you'd expect. They are reacting in a realistic time frame, but they are simply cutting away from the WR and where the ball is headed.

As a former corner who had zero offers but lined up against a future 2nd round WR every day for 3 years, I must say that what I'm seeing in these videos is wayyyyy off the mark of what actually happens when you guess wrong and jump the wrong route. I'm sure you understand this as well. IRL, everytime I jumped the wrong route, I knew I messed up very quickly and was able to fix my mistake within 8 tenths of a second. The WR would never get more than 8 yards of separation off of the mistake. Why? Because I made the mistake BEFORE the WR committed to his route. That's what MADDEN 20 is messing up. They're having the DB's make mistakes AFTER the WR commits to his route. The late reaction is what makes it look so bad. Then once you notice it, you start to see how often it occurs. After seeing this thread, a lot of people are going to have a tough time ignoring each play where someone is left wide open... potentially making this "bug", game-breaking

EDIT: And I agree with wanting to see a play like this maybe once or twice a game as long as it makes sense ratings wise. That's why I want Madden to have tendencies so that each player can react at different times. As is though, EA should keep these blown coverages in the game, but add in more parameters and conditions for the animations to play out.

Me too! I don't have Wi-Fi at home so I can't upload any patches,so this definitely can be something that keeps me from purchasing Madden 20. I tried last year's Madden and ended up taking it back to GameStop within a couple of months. Never have done that before. Madden 16 and 17 were good for me after adjusting a few sliders. Hopefully, adjusting the defense reaction and coverage sliders can improve the man and zone coverage enough where it feels the coverage, both my team and the CPU's,is at least decent based on the ratings of LBs,CBs and Safeties.

Funny you say that. There are still a bunch of things that bother me about this game but most of them I can live with or work on some sliders that may fix some gameplay balancing. However, this secondary issue is something I can not live with and is what’s keeping from purchasing also. I agree with kidOS, this is a game breaker. Hopefully EA is already on top it and we’ll hear something soon.

Defenders running the wrong way has been a bug for a few years now. It's also why we regularly see inflated completion percentages. And with super linebackers gone it's really going to be glaring.

You can do it out of any play because you can always hot route streaks.

I've had success against all the base coverages so far.

In a real NFL game if the offense lines up with 4 wide receivers and two of those will be guarded by linebackers, would you expect the linebackers to be able to cover them on fly routes?

In my opinion I would think that WRs should burn LBs. The only way to stop that would be to pressure the QB or switch defense to have more DBs.
I'd expect any LB good enough to still be on the field in a sub package to carry those routes for at least 15 yards.

I've had enough time with the games so far (about 24 hours total) that I can honestly say I this is something the devs are going to have to take a hard look at his year. It is really bad this year. You are just so handicapped this year especially in zone because your players have zero awareness or ability to pick up a receiver that enters their zone. I can combat this by usering at least one defensive back or linebacker but I can't be 11 places at once

All Madden all default with cpu qb acc at 5 and Carr has missed a ton of throws. I'm texans. First time I played this game without this adjustment he was 39/42 for 400 and 3 . At 5 for acc he is missing too many throws so it's good to see that and will look for a happy medium. Guys are still open but with him being inaccurate it helps to simulate drive s ending and get a realistic %

This is a bummer for teams that scheme heavy in zone (like my Bills)

I have witnessed overall good coverage. There are some issues just as in any Madden but I don't see anything exceptionally bad this year.
