Can part of the play calling be due to pass reaction slider? Since the beginning I have had mine near 0 (which we all know now means hardest or 100 for M12)..now could this be setting the CPU Coach/QB into "damn we got to run" cause there DB's are covering everything..along with just terrible game plan star system..

So why is it that I seem to be the only one in Year 1 that's not getting this horrible play calling that prompted the concept of the workaround.
I keep hearing moving parts, etc, but that doesn't make sense. What is the practical probability of the "stars aligning" to where it's working nearly perfectly and believably while everyone else got 80% runs?

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
A stealth change is always possible.
That said, you guys would see it, too, right? From what I can tell, most are still getting the bad playcalling with the team books in Year 1, with the issue disappearing, or at least diminishing, as the CC goes on?
That might go back to skill level - but that would mean I'm one of the few using custom All-Madden level sliders in the thread? Sounds...unlikely?
I know you're on custom All-Pro, and dfos. I believe rudyjuly is on custom All-Pro. Deuce? Anyone else?
JHey messaged me saying he was seeing the same thing - too much passing with the generic/legends - I know he used to use (and probably still does) one of Jarodd's sets as a base - all custom All-Madden
I think that level and the two D related reaction sliders, as well as online versus offline are all possible / probable factors...
On the other hand, I just played the 2013 Colts, checked their sim split (about 55 / 45 to the pass with Luck and Hillis as the feature back in a "power run" scheme"...
I gave them run balanced and they played a smart game that was right about 55 percent pass...
All I KNOW is I'm doing something right...I just wish I KNEW (exactly) what it is...

I wish I knew, too, so that I could either try to duplicate it, or see what's different that's causing me to get the opposite results."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
I'm noticing since adjusting my Sliders from 12 sec run off to 17 now, the CPU will change plays at the LOS more often now(@ least Brees did in my last game).
@ KB, could it be that your forcing the CPU to change plays based on what your showing them(pre-snap)?
I noticed Brees check down to runs when I was playing base 7 in the box, and check to passing when I had 8 or more in the box!!
I can't belive how well my last game played vs Saints. Final 21-18 in OT, not a crazy high scoring game, however both teams got yardage, just a more realistic
Pass avg per att
Rush avg per att
I was using these sliders for this last game VS Saints and was it a close one!

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
Sometimes they don't check out of it, but if I stop the run, they'll start throwing and keep going until I start getting pressure or my DBs make plays.
I know there's times where the CPU is just mixing it up and I'm like "what to do" so I call more vanilla defenses, trying to make them "show their hand". Stuff like Nickle 2 Man Under or a base 4-3 man.
Obviously, I don't know if the CPU is bluffing the audible, just hot routing, or just flipping a run. All of those make a "Check! Check!" type animation.
I play a lot of man coverage as well (it's what the DBs are "good" at), so that might be part of it - anticipating possible 1-on-1 match ups (which my DBs still lose too often)."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
Just played a game against the Redskins in my CCM and decided to let them use their team specific playbook which was Houston's because their coach was Gary Kubiak. I won the game 26-9 and their playcalling wasn't that bad at all. Their QB was Tebow and they came out pretty run oriented but nothing that outrageous. They did a good job of mixing it up on early downs and throwing in situations that called for it.
Overall they ended up throwing 30 times and running 26. They would have ran more but I got a pretty good hold on the game towards the end of the first half and entering the second half. It was definitely better than the 45 carry, 22 pass game I had earlier in my season using the team specifics.
I'm winding down on my eighth season and I think I'm going to go into next season allowing the opponent to use whatever playbook they have assigned to them just to see what happens and what kind of results it creates.Comment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
give them the Run N Gun or a Pass oriented playbook. Maybe try the Saints. I played @ Saints and they had default PB and passed 48/ 26(runs) game went into OT.Last edited by D_Fos; 11-29-2012, 01:08 AM.Comment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
We should really try to integrate all the Legend Coach playbooks to add a bit more variety since they are just as balanced as the generic playbooks.
I just played a team with the John Madden playbook and they were quite balanced with running and passing, with a lot of deep looks (although very little play action) I was thinking definitely the Raiders and maybe the Steelers should have it. Also the Broncos should also definitely have Vermeil's paybook, it plays exactly like a Peyton offence.Comment

It was considered early on, but aborted because it didn't seem to have as substantial and effect as swapping out the O Books does...
This is the place!
Start with post #1 and enjoy!

I use Madden for the Raiders and Chargers / Landry for the Cowboys / Walsh for a "new HC / West Coast / 2013 Bengals and have used the Billick for various 3 wide spread teams...
I use the Vermeil, so I've been "hogging" that one for myself, but you're right...DEN / Manning would rock that book!
Which leads me to my latest installment of:
"Things I (think I) Learned Today"
Whatever the "process" is regarding CPU AI / Playcalling seem to make DRAMATIC improvements as the seasons play out...
I'm two games into 2014 and both were stellar...
First game:
KC / Crennel / Cassel / Charles
I've played them a few times, and like ("new look / post 2013") BAL have had a tough time finding the right book for them...
Default doesn't run enough and run balanced doesn't either...
Of all the "Zone Run" books I've played against, HOU is the most "balanced"...
Gave them that book and it was (by far) the most competitive game against them to date...
Charles ran about 25 times and Cassel limited his crappy accuracy issues by being more of a "game manager" than trying to take over the game by passing excessively...I think he had about 25 throws...
Game Two:
WSH / Wisenhunt / RGIII / Blount / Morris
They are now "Power Run", so I first gave them the book I know gets 20+ carries to the feature back...STL...
Didn't work!
They ran EVERY play / 3rd and Long / etc.
Restarted and just gave them the AZ book, that in the past didn't get the HB as involved as it should...
BINGO!
Blount had 25 carries / Morris had 5 / RGIII 28 dropbacks with 3 scrambles
VERY effective in all phases...
Best part:
I was up 24-20 with 4 minutes to go...
They have a 4th and goal at my one yard line...
Instead of kicking the FG (making it 24-23) and then trying to gas me out and get the ball back for a final possession...they GO FOR IT!
4 Wide / I counter with Dime Man with a MLB SPY
Blount slips into the flat (nobody is on him because the MLB is SPY), RGIII rolls around the pocket a bit, see him and hits him for a go ahead TD...
Conclusion:
As the seasons play out, the AI seems to do a much better job of identifying it's personnel and balancing it's gameplans...esp. when a "new HC" makes them do an "overhaul"...
I got really good gameplay out of 2012
Even better gameplay in 2013 and 2014 is shaping up to provide the best gameplay to date...
Interesting stuff...
Nest up:
MIA / Philbin / Flacco / Bush / West CoastComment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
What options have people used with the Legends? I've got a quick list here but it's missing some stuff. I didn't list Lombardi as that playbook is too old school/archaic for any team.
LEGEND PLAYBOOK OPTIONS
Madden (vertical passing, 4 singleback, 3 SG) - Raiders, Chargers
Landry (5 singleback, 4 SG) - Cowboys
Gibbs (13 singleback!, no SG) - Bengals, new WC team
Vermeil (10 singleback, 3 SG) - spread, RNG
Walsh (old school WC, 7 singleback, no shotgun) - WC
Billick (8 singleback, 3 SG, lots of I-formation too) - Baltimore, spread, RNGLast edited by rudyjuly2; 11-29-2012, 06:27 PM.Comment

I had to edit my post...
I actually used Walsh for CIN new WC / HC...
Anyway:
Nice list!
I also think that Billick / Vermeil is a good option for any Spread / Air Coryell type teams...
Either one can function as an alt for RNG...Comment

Re: run/pass ratio Team specific playbooks for computer- offline CCM
Last game I played, Carolina ran a lot - and clamped me down - just stayed patient and played defense and field position. Newton was efficient - threw a TD pass, had 6 scrambles (really think that's a traits + AWR thing...not sure what Grounding impact was, I was on 100, which supposedly tends to create throwaways and not scrambles?)
They kept pounding and with them up 14-9 late in the 4th, they pop the only long run against my worn down defense to ice the game.
Played a ball control style beautifully. Sure they ran a lot (56%), but the management of the game was spot on."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
