FYI, this latest video wasn't from Hiphopgamer but Simfballcritic, fwiw.

There was another vid I saw by HHG in the Madden forum. That's the one I was referencing.

    Either way.....

I think they can easily move on. Madden has had multiple commentary teams but for any NFL game, all that matters is if they know what they are talking about.

I imagine Madden 15 will be heavy with CBS Presentation since they already have Nantz/Simms, but also since the NFL will want to promote TNF on CBS. Since NFL Network and CBS both split Thursday Night games, I imagine the NFL will want NFL Network presentation in 2K if they have any broadcast or crew.

Though maybe they could get the ESPN License again but I don't want to hear Gruden talk in the game, I can't stand him as it is on Monday Night Football.

That will be another thing interesting, if there is another NFL game, who is going to be on commentary and which TV Network may be involved.

No offense, but year after year, I see so many posts on these forums where people said they just couldn't go a year without a football game. They just couldn't do it. They HAD to have the new Madden, because Madden was better than nothing at all.

If those people, not just here but all across the globe, could have banded together to absolutely crush - and I mean crush - one or two years worth of Madden sales (speaking with our wallets) this would NOT have lasted as long as it has. But they couldn't do it. They HAD to buy the new Madden. No, no you didn't.
Haven't bought Madden since 12 though I have played 13 and ps4 25. One step forward, 2 steps back from my point of view.

Dan and Peter are nice, and have really good chemistry and deliver believable lines, but they're too jokesy. then need to tone it down a bit.

they COULD replace them, but should they? who are they going to get to fill the spot?

i would die if they could get some dudes to impersonate john madden and pat summerall. TBH, summerall's speech pattern would lend itself perfectly to the way different names and stats are spliced into video game play by play

I'd be all over 2k football next gen like a kid in a candy store. Hopefully we see it at E3. I tried madden on next gen .. The gameplay just isn't there.

There is a big difference between a video game and something like apparel, sunday ticket or beer. Not having an exclusive license to the NFL for these other products does not effectively prevent them from being competitive in their market. Not to mention, when the contract expires, they are still in a position to make a push to GET that license.

With a video game, this type of strategy eliminates the other competitors completely, and subsequently eliminates the appeal of having an exclusive license all together. Why would I pay a king's ransom for "exclusivity" when there is no longer anyone to compete with for that exclusivity. This ultimately hurts the NFL in that the sole licensee of that exclusive now can dictate what they want to pay. This is similar to the short term thinking commonly seen in the Corporate environment with ultra greedy CEO's and executives.

On the EA side, EA did exactly what we all knew they would do the day the exclusive was signed. They relied on the exclusive to cut costs and corners and did the bare minimum to produce something that has been short of mediocre at its best. Had EA and Tiburon actually dedicated themselves to produce a quality title that blew consumers away, no one would have cared about exclusivity because they would have had a great game to play. A youtube and social media community made up of THOUSANDS was spawned by the fact that the game being produced was so awful. You can find videos critiquing all sports games online, but the amount directed towards the other AAA sports titles pales in comparison to those related to Madden. Now why would that be?

What I find most amusing here is how some folks can honestly continue to defend the studio making Madden. It's one thing to lack any creativity or innovation, but it's another to have something that doesn't even function properly. From a software point of view, madden is awful. There are countless bugs that severely hinder the functionality of the game. Crashes, freezes, etc. run rampant in Madden. This is a 25 year old product. It's embarrassing. That's not even delving into the laundry list of things that are just wrong such as schedules, playoff tie breakers, etc. etc.

If 2k or another studio is able to produce a competing NFL product, things will get very interesting. IMHO, we will suddenly see some things start to show up in Madden that in the past were deemed "too hard", "too time consuming" and "not a priority". However, because I also feel the studio lacks the talent of other studios, those elements may finally be present in the game, but they still won't work properly and will ultimately continue to cause massive frustration for the avid football fan seeking the same quality simulation title that NHL, FIFA, MLB and NBA fans have been able to enjoy.
So this has probably been brought up in previous threads, but here goes....I'd be curious about the possibility about using online resources such as something that might rhyme with "pickstarter.borg" to assemble and organize a potential purchase of the game engine.

If we just made it customizable, team names, number of teams, college or pro we could leave it up to the community to create the teams, etc. Generic commentators and no licensing but priority would be on the gameplay.

A colleague and myself are currently trying to research this possibility and I can imagine we'd get support from the O.S. community. I'm in the IT field however, game development / programming isn't something that I'm too familiar with. Any thoughts? Is this even a possibility?

Pretty sure the NFL doesn't want to seem to favor any one of their network partners which is why we haven't seen any network intergrations since 2K5

NFL Head Coach had NFL Network, but it makes sense for them to make an exception for their own property.

True, but that wasn't their primary NFL video game franchise either.

actually, you know what's more important than commentary?

                        crowd noise

it's such an unappreciated factor in game development.

TBH i'd rather have the crowd be spot on and interactive and have no commentary at all, than have repetitive commentary and dead ambiance

I agree crowd noise is huge. The biggest thing for me is differentiating a regular season game to a playoff game to Super Bowl. Every game atmosphere should feel different. Even division/rivalry games should have a different feel. Just my opinion.

Twitch has posted their broadcast schedule for E3. Multiple unannounced games will be shown or talked about on-air. NFL 2k won't be one of them. This isn't a confirmation that the rumor is false, of course. Just more information to consider.

I 100% agree. As a Ravens fan, I absolutely hate how a Ravens/Steelers game doesn't have that same feel in Madden or at the least the crowd isn't as loud as it should be. Since I use multiple teams for multiple franchises, I would like to play as SF going into Seattle trying to not only beat the Seahawks but also the crowd noise. Then be Seattle and watch as the AI struggles with delay of games and calling timeouts because of the crowd.

I just realized this thread has 17 pages, wow unbelievable.
