I think less than 10 drives in the second half isn't enough time to say if he can save the Bears. Maybe they do it anyway?

Re: NFL Off Topic
What did Vermeil say and if they asked him a question why shouldn't he answer?
I just read it and have absolutely no issue with what Vermeil said.
I think he understands what it takes to be successful in the NFL over Watson, TBH.
I understand that Watson feels "betrayed," but this ain't the NBA & NFL players are rarely involved in front-office/personnel matters.
Get over it and play or sit out until they trade you.

Watson has every right to be upset, based on what the OWNER told him before they made the GM hire. And this is after dumb decision after dumb decision by the FO, including trading away Hopkins.
Either way, I wasn't really asking for feedback.Last edited by legendkiller5; 01-17-2021, 07:12 PM.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Anyway, I understand that Houston is a ****show, right now, McNair shouldn't made those sort of promises, but you can only control your play.
Everything else is out of his hands and that is how he should see it.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Not sure what's "hilarious." He needs to worry about what he can effect & not the GM hiring, but I'll let you stay mad.
And plenty of talented players have wasted years, decades on bad/mediocre teams. He isn't the first and won't be the last.
The Bills went through 2 decades of questionable hire after hire, but then they hired Beane/McDermott. Now, they've been to the playoffs three out of four years.
Saying all that to say everything can change quickly.

That clears it up. Obviously no one told Deshaun that after 2 decades of failure there may be some light at the end of the tunnel, that would change everything.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: NFL Off Topic
That was a mistake by ownership to give him the impression that he would be "involved" in the process, but all he can do now is get over it or ask to be traded.
I understand this is acommon thing in basketball, but players in the NFL (even the great Tom Brady) will never wield that sort of power.

Re: NFL Off Topic
It also might take a wholesale ownership change like it did for the Bills to turn it around and that’s not something you can count on. - Knicks fanOriginally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: NFL Off Topic
Beane/McDermott have drafted well on both sides of the ball, not reached for too many players and hit a home run with Josh Allen.
The past regimes either drafted poorly or heavily to one side of the field.
Anyway, hopefully Watson can be moved or gets past his feelings being hurt.

Re: NFL Off Topic
The Pegulas didn't change the culture of the team, draft or sign the right players, though.
They made the hire, yes, but we can't say for certain that Wilson would be unable to as well.
The team was in need of a franchise QB (Josh Allen) and better drafting overall.
A change in ownership won't do anything for Houston, if they make the wrong hires (with or without DeShaun's input) or draft/sign poorly fitting players.
