    The Laine situation... LOL. Already?
I wonder if the issue is Laine, Torts, or both.

After seeing Babcock not able to gel with players who are less than half his age, wonder if similar situation is happening here?

I told ya'll Laine doesn't play defense; it didn't take long for Torts to find out.

Looks like the Penguins have a new President of Hockey Ops:

This is just speculation but I think it's probably a case of personality mismatch.

You have a finnish GM in Columbus and Laine is the biggest talent Finland has. That is probably why he is there. Doubt Torts would have chosen him.

Could be that in Laines head he is on the Brett Hull level where he is so good that he should be able to do what he wants as long as he just scores. Could be why Wheeler had the comments he had when Laine left.

Brett Hull and Mike Keenan wasn't the perfect match either. Well even Gretzky and Keenan wasn't a perfect match.

Some players have "special" heads and need special treatment. When a team and coach accepts that, it can lead to success but it can also lead to chaos.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if Laine learns something from this or if it will be downhill already (for atleast one of them)...

Leafs/Habs with a crazy stat for the game.

This will be first Leafs vs Habs meeting this far into a season where both teams are top 2 in the same division since 1938!

          Edit
Gonna be a long 6 weeks if Leafs cant play physical, or get infront the net, the opponents or their own. Simmonds was exactly what they needed. Now they're back to being pushovers. Hope they can make a deal to get some physical presence on the team that'll knock guys around and stop guys from headhunting our superstars.

Also, how do you call an interference penalty AND embellishment on the SAME play? It's one or the other, how can it be both? It's like calling a blocking and charging foul at the same time in basketball.

            Leafs won.

Can you tell me why Matthews/Marner have almost 7 more minutes per game than what Tavares/Nylander have?

They had much more even playing time the first games where Tavares/Nylander were the ones piling up points.

In my opinion it does not really feel fair compared to their skill levels that the ice time differ this much? The games I saw I didn't think the second line struggled... Is it due to the contracts? They don't want also Nylander to become a ppg player so they need to pay him 10+ when his contract run out? 🤣

Isn't there a risk Toronto wears out their first line by playing them this much? It's not like they lack skill on the second line but they still have less than 16 minutes they play like 15:30...

They're the first line and have been the much better players. And they've wanted to play more.

When you're a top heavy team, you should be playing your top 2 lines so much.

When Babcock coached them, seemed like minutes were restricted. Over 2 minutes more per game with Keefe last year vs Babcock.

Nice to see them win though. Now Habs will be in their 3rd game in 4 nights next time these 2 meet on Saturday.

I agree they should be playing their top TWO lines much. But Tavares and Nylander are being underused in my opinion. They were better atleast statistically at the start of the season until their minutes dropped drastically. Its not hard to appear "much better" when you play 7 minutes more per game, lol.

Tavares and Nylander are averaging around a point per game, so I think they're fine with their minutes.

But Leafs are looking to add another player, likely to the top 6. Not sure how they'd work it out cap wise, but they need someone in the top 6 who can annoy people like Simmonds, Tkachuk, Marchand, Tom Wilson can do. If theres anything that they're missing, its that.

Also, Tuukka Rask, late in the game skates to the bench, all the Bruins guys on the ice stop and stare at him, the bench is going crazy and telling him to go back in his net. He then casually skates back to the net all confused.

He later revealed he thought they were down 2-1 and didnt know why nobody was telling him to go to the bench for the extra attacker.

Coyotes could win the series tonight....but then have to play 2 more regardless.

Good news for Leafs is that Robertson is cleared to return so he'll be in the AHL for the time being, and Campbell is skating again so hopefully he's back soon.

Thornton has been out 3 weeks so far and his projected timetable was a month of being out. If Leafs could get Thornton and Campbell back once the Sens series next week is finished up, that'll help them a lot to start their west coast trip coming up in just over a week.

Sens deal Galchenyuk and Paquette to Carolina for Dzingel.

So far, every team that has traded for Galchenyuk lost the deal (Coyotes gave up Domi, Pens gave up Kessel, Wild gave up Zucker).

This looks like a great trade for the Sens. They previously traded Dzingel 2 years prior for Duclair and two 2nd round picks (one of which is for 2021).

Just like that, Galchenyuks stock has hit the minimum.

Not good enough for the Sens, Canes took him as a throw in, waived him, and nobody picked up his 1m expiring cap hit.

Here's a player who literally 2 seasons ago was still a 40+pt, 20-20 guy at the age of 24, and now nobody wants him.

Edit-And the Leafs just acquired him so.....here's hoping I guess?

Not sure he's entirely a guy they need though. Only thing this team really needs is a guy like Simmonds who can stand up for our guys and knock the opponents around.

Matthew Tkachuk fell on Campbell, fighting with Leafs players, that rivalry starts with Leafs and Flames.

Now...Brady Tkachuk falls on Andersen and Andersen almost takes him down before Muzzin steps in (although Brady won that one).

Tkachuks vs the the North, that's the 2021 NHL rivalry.

Joe Thornton returns and has a goal and assist!

Seconds left in the 2nd, Leafs up 5-1 over the last place Sens. What could go wrong? Leafs found a way....

I honestly cant say I've been more embarrassed as a Leafs fan.

And I've officially given up on ever trusting Andersen again. He's far from the sole reason they lost, but if he cant even be average in net a quarter of the way into this season.....Once Campbell comes back, give him the shot. No reason to keep Andersen beyond this season.
