Golf season is over for me now too. Golf usually ends around the middle of October around here but the rain managed to hold itself off until the second week of November.

Now it's off to the range from now until March.

It may be cold as heck out but I can't bring myself to stop golfing. As long as it's not pouring rain, I'll keep going out there. If it's raining, then a few range sessions a week at the very least.

I can't do cold...I have tried the whole virtual golf thing (where you hit a real ball into a screen and it kinda/sorta calculates the spin/distance of your shot), it's a-ight...not great, but better than nothing I guess. To me, it seems to over-estimate my iron shots by about 10-15%, and under-estimate my driver by 5-10%, based on how I generally hit those clubs. I guess the range is still technically an option in the winter, but like I say, I'm not good in the cold weather...

Great job; sounds like you're off to a good start. Maybe we'll get to see you on TV soon. Promise to give OS a shout-out when you make it!

I am going to play for my first time over winter break, will they have clubs you can rent out? and any tips for a first timer would be very helpful lol.

Was down in Las Vegas for a few days and as I was leaving the In N Out Burger I saw this Las Vegas golf store just down the road. Went in and spent about 2 hours in there.

I was trying out the new Titleist irons on Trackman and the guy there gave me a free mini lession because he was a small little swing flaw when it came to transferring my weight. After it was all said and done, I had my 6 iron going from 88MPH and 170ish yards to over 92MPH and 185-190yards! Going to definitely keep practicing what he taught me at the range from now on!

Also bought these golf shoes when I was down there too. They're around $120 up here in Canada, got them on sale in Las Vegas for $75 including the tax. Unreal deal.

You should be able to find a rental set most anyplace you play.

When I was a little younger cold wasn't the problem. As long as it was in the 30's with little or no wind I could do it. It was always a good time. Temp greens or not.

                      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I quit my job at the a nearby golf course about three and a half months ago, and haven't been to play since.

I was getting sick of the job, but man do I miss the perks that came with it. Free golf, I could go to a driving range any time I wanted, as long as we weren't busy enough to keep me working.

Luckily, my former boss still sees me almost every day because her daughter goes to school where I coach basketball, and she liked me, so she gave me 10 free passes for any time I want to go golf..but of course, the weather has gotten a little colder since then. I'm really hoping to go more regularly in the next couple of months. I miss being out there.

Man, seems like I just can't play a round where everything just clicks lol. Shot a 102 this past weekend, which is pretty solid by my standards. The crazy thing is that I only hit 1, maybe 2 fairways. My short game was pretty on point and my usually terrible putting was actually not horrific. Managed to average an even 2 putts in a round for the first time! But that driver...just haven't been able to get into a rhythm with it at all. That was actually the one thing I had consistently going towards the end of summer, and it's very inconsistent right now. Oh well.

That's the game of golf my friend. When you have that one round where everything goes your way, you feel like a pro lol. Then the next round you play it's like you've never picked up a club before.

On another note, the club ho in me came out last night and I bought a Titleist 910F fairway wood off ebay for a total of $60.

I've been going to the range the last few weeks and I just hate my current Nike VRS Covert 3 Wood. I don't know what it is. Just don't have confidence looking down at the thing and I just can't hit it very well anymore. Hit the thing beautifully during the summer but now I just can't stand the thing haha. The Titleist should be here either the 2nd or 3rd, looking forward to it.

I pray and hope that this new year sees me back playing. I've been putting a lot in the basement and I'm hoping by March or April I'll be swing again. I miss the game so much.
I am the lesson after the fall.

I played for the first time since March (injured my knee in May, had surgery in July). It was not good. I need to get back into playing.

                                Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Doing some winter golf shopping I picked up some shorts and a pair of FJ Sports on clearance. The shoes were 50% off so got them for 40.00

I also (even though I love my RBZ Driver) picked up a Callaway RZR Fit Driver. On sale 149 marked down to 129.99 and then until 1/8/14 it's 25 % off. So I got it for 98.

I hit it a few times and was surprised at the sound. Wasn't as loud as I thought it would be. As it gets warmer I'll take to range and play with the adjustments a bit.
