    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Played on Monday for the first time in about three or four weeks, my swing was all out of sorts, putter is still on point, but I need to play like once a week to keep my swing in rythem. Rough was soo long, I got pissed on one hole. Long par 5, hit a massive drive to the center of the fairway, then knocked a 3 wood stiff, hit a slope on the left of the green saw it bounce into the rough to the left of the green behind a bunker....looked for 5 minutes couldn't find the ball, it was on 15 on a hot day I just said **** it and walked to the next hole I was steamed, that was an easy birdy chance gone becuase the grass was so thick couldn't find the ball.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I had one of the greatest weekends of golf. Saturday I headed to the home course, a par 71. Played the tees one up form the tips, in the rain for the first 6 holes and shot 87. I couldn't do anything right. The guy I was playing with was a 22 handicap and if he broke 120, I would be surprised. I should state I am currently an 11. Anyway, we finish the round and he is apologizing for being terrible and I tell him that "tomorrow is another day and the best thing about golf is 2 days can be completely different."

So Sunday comes and I decide I will play the tips as it's just a casual round with my parents on the same course. Anyway, my first drive ends up right behind a tree so I have to chip left handed backwards to get out. So I flip the 7 iron upside down an hit the ball on the nuts and it goes all the way across the fairway and another tree. So, I'm thinking to myself that this is going to be a long round. Well, I had enough room to get a swing on the ball and hit another 7 iron to about 15 feet, and per usual 2 putt. Lucky to escape with a bogey, I tee off on the next hole and put it into a fairway bunker, so I am thinking it might be time to go hit the range and maybe stop golfing for the weekend. Well, I take an 8 iron form the bunker and put it 6 feet from the hole and actually make a putt outside 1 foot for birdie. I was pumped because I haven't made a birdie on that hole in a long time.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I shoot a 73 from the tips which is my lowest score in a couple years. I made my last putt and just started laughing because the guy I played with the day before was putting on the 9th green, they are adjoining greens, and he had just putted in for birdie to shoot his best 9 hole score ever.

        I love golf!!!!

I hit some on a demo day a while back. Honestly, I think modern iron technology (and by modern I mean anything in the last 5-6 years) is so much better than what I am used to hitting, if it's a good enough deal I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

          LOL...you love golf today....

But great story. I still haven't put it all together in a round this year, but I have hit some pretty nice approaches, which is my focus for this year - that 2nd shot is usually what does me in. My "strokes gained" on approach shots is probably -20.

Got a ticket for the Friday round of the U.S. Open in a couple of weeks. Can't wait! It's gonna be awesome to see guys like Rory and Tiger playing at a course I've played before.

Took three weeks off and it was terrible. Started to get my swing back, but from where I was to where I am now, its about a 5 stroke difference.

Well at least I know what I'm in for lol

Think I'll hit the short course first for some "relax" work on things to see where I'm at first. Then go from there.

Looking forward to playing again Sunday. Last Sunday in the skins game it was real windy and 53 degrees. Terrible weather for late May. My swing just wasn't right as I was trying to work the ball against a swirling wind all day.

Finished with an 82 but scrambled to a lot of pars. But more importantly I dropped a 60 foot putt in the side door for a nice $150 skin on a 170 yard par 3 with the pin tucked way in the back corner where the green starts to slope away. My only birdie of the day, but no one else got one there so it paid. It was just pure luck, picked a line and hit it. The ball actually broke back a couple inches at the very end and dropped in the side door. I didn't even see that break at the end coming down the slope. The putt actually started left and then went right and at the very end back to the left. Pure luck from that distance.

Anyway back to the range tomorrow to see if I can get back in the comfort zone. See ball, hit ball and don't overswing.

Played over the weekend at Colorado National where the Pac 12 plays regional events, as well as where CU plays.

The course was still really wet. So much so that you couldn't avoid casual water in some spots, which really sucked because it cost me a few strokes due to excessive divots from the ground being so damn soft.

Played pretty poorly. Didn't hit many greens, and only made 1 birdie on the day. Chipped and putted pretty well and made some 8-10 foot par putts. Ended up shooting 76.

Going to be heading to the range this weekend to work on some things as well as test the possibility of altering my iron setup and going with a Titleist CB/MB combo set. CB would be 3-6 and MB 7-PW. I don't have issues hitting the long irons with the MBs, and really in terms of forgiveness, there isn't a great deal of difference between the two, however when I don't catch one clean, I don't like the way it feels with the MBs. I know that it assists you in knowing when you miss hit it, but I'm in tune enough that I don't know if I need that type of indicator anymore.

Played a quick 9 holes after work tonight. Shot +2 33. Swing is starting to shape up nicely, driver specifically. There's a 320 yard par 4 that I had only 40 yards into after my tee shot. Next hole is a 275 par 4 that I nearly drove with my 3 wood but I just pushed it left slightly. My driver is carrying about 265 now and my 3 wood about 245 yards. Put a ton of work into my swing during the off season and it's really paying off.

All in all a good round and that will probably be my last round of golf until July. The U.S Open has sucked me dry for cash, especially with how weak our Canadian dollar is right now. Almost 1,000$ american is going towards hotels...

Played a 4 person scramble for charity on Wednesday and we shot a 65 (-5). Was pretty happy about it considering I was with a 40 and two 25s, although one of the 25s left after nine. We had 6 birdies and a bogey, but that bogey came on a 217 yards par 3 where the deal was you had to draw a card and that decided the club you had to hit off the tee. The 25 drew an 8 iron, the 40 drew a 9 iron, and I drew a PW. Needless to say, I can't hit a PW 217.

Anyway, have a money scramble this weekend so hopefully I can pad my pockets a little, but it's going to be tough as you never know who the sand baggers are until it's too late.
