I agree 100% - I'm sorta coming around to the notion that intentionally trying to create lag is bad (for me)...when I'm grooving an in-sequence swing, I think it just comes naturally - although not nearly to Hogan's extent. Like you said, I think that's something you just come to naturally, can't really be forced/taught/learned, IMO.

I just make sure I make solid contact each time which I can do for the most part, I'm just trying to get to 280 off the tee consistently. I play in alot of tournaments/skins games with some scratch to +5 guys and they are destroying it off the tee. I'm money on par 4's that are 400 and less.
If you're getting 280 off the tee consistently, I'd say that's darn good and ought to be plenty good to put you into position for a GIR on basically any course in the world. I know what you mean about playing with people that can completely bomb it, but it sounds to me like your distance is fine.

Hard to make money doing that. Put me on a shot makers course and the playing field evens out quite a bit.
Totally. Power has completely changed the game. It's to the point now where a lot of these guys are going Driver-wedge into basically ever par 4, and 75% of the clubs in their bag go basically untouched. I've played with people that don't even carry any fairway woods or long irons. It can be discouraging for sure, but I don't play competitively so for me it's basically just a nuisance. I can see why it'd be a bigger concern if you were playing competitively though...

I said trying to get 280 consistently. More like 250 or 260. Inrto the wind less, with the wind alot more because I hit pretty high drives. 280 would be ideal. those extra 20 or 30 yards would put me within a much more manageable iron range as well as put the par 5's in play to go for 2. My tempo is really good and I can work the ball, trying things to get that extra distance comes at a serious price. The fix is simple keep the wrists hinged longer with the same tempo. Putting it into practice has been impossible for me. Very frustrating to be able to know what I need to do and not being able to execute it.

But you know what, you really do putt for dough. So being able to knock down more putts in the 10 to 30 foot range is where I'd really see improvement moreso than always searching for more distance so thats what I'm going to start working on. Shot an 85 last time out with 39 putts. Really terrible putting day. I knock that down to even 32 putts even and I'm looking at a 78. I can live with that. I'll never be scratch but I would love to be a 4 or 5. The time out before that it was a 77 with 30 putts.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Watched Stenson (sp) throw his driver in the drink on 18 (he started on the back 9). He had to play the front 9 without a driver. As a hack, that makes me so mad. These guys are given thousands of dollars worth of the best equipment and clothing....I threw a $500+ driver in water, my wife would sell the rest of my clubs and never allow me to go near a golf course again, let alone tell her I spent $500 on a driver.

Just an annoyance of mine, sorry to rant.

              Thanks!

I have a Ping I25 but I cannot hit the thing. Not sure why. I went back to my old TaylorMade Burner when I played Thursday. Took the Ping to the range and I don't know what it is, but I cannot hit it.

No problem. What I would recommend is that you go to the golf shop and get fitted for the R15. Then apply those adjustments to your SLDR if you go that way. They are very similar drivers excpet for two sliding weights, but you can compensate for that easily with the SLDR. My fitting left me with a 12 degree driver with the weight slid one notch draw weight and I hit a really nice cut/baby fade off the tee. Its longer than my last two drivers as well.

I've never been fitted for clubs but I think its about time to do so.

I had a fitting last week but not with a machine fitter and just a guy reading numbers, had it with an older guy with 40 years experience in club fitting who visually by eye can do it and it was absolutely brilliant. Should have done it earlier.

Agreed. Best Golf I've seen in some time. And at Sawgrass made it that much more special.

Made an epic putt today. The green has two levels and about an 8ft elevation difference and the hole was cut in the front of the green right at the bottom of the hill. I misplayed my approach and was stuck about a yard in to the top level and my line was a solid 30ft off. I read the putt for a good 5 minutes, picked a spot 20ft to the right of the hole at the crest of the hill and hit it to pretty much the exact spot I was aiming. The ball crept to the slope, barely caught the slope, and went down the hill with some pace, hit the back up the cup and fell back in. Mind you, if it wasn't wet outside there would have been no possible way to keep it on the green. Still one of if not the craziest putt Ive ever made. I wish I had it on video, lol.

Dropped some bombs out there, but struggled to break 80. Finished with a 78. I think Im trying too hard.

Outstanding! My best putt I've ever made was like a 60 ft some break, slight elevation putt. All luck, no skill LOL. And I too have been trying to break 80 forever. Best round ever for 18 is 82. :/

I thought I would like the 3 hole aggregate playoff (more golf to watch) but ended up not really liking it. I know the playoff would have gone 3 anyway but it took away (for me) some of the excitement from the birdie putts on the first couple holes.

True, but come on that 3 hole playoff allowed Rickie to get FIVE birdies in SIX chances on 17 for the week. INSANITY.
