    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Just got back from playing a 9 hole course (20.00 to play 18) and shot my best "round" ever

    Shot a 40 on first 9 and a 44 on 2nd nine for a 84.
My previous best was an 87 last year.

The best moment and part worse moment was on the 2nd nine a duffed a drive embarrassingly bad. Got some decent roll but was a red faced moment for sure.
To the right is the previous green. Of course I duff it when people are on that green.

Anyways I had been hitting long irons well so I grabbed my 5 iron and........ nutted it. The sound of the pure hit was orgasmic lol..
Dead straight and ball landed roughly 10 yards from green. A pitch and 1 putt later I had par!
    That made my day.
Working on my posture and tempo has made a huge difference so far but the fight goes on.

Heading out this evening to play the 12 hole short course with my friend when he gets off work.

I continue to fight inconsistency....some days I'm striping everything right on the sweet spot, the very next day I can't hit water from a boat. It's like pure strikes or first-time-playing-golf duffs and ugly hacks. I just can't figure it out....I wanna pull a Henrik Stenson some days.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I feel your pain. Shot a 92 which was my best ever 2 weeks ago. Then played again last week on a little bit harder course and stopped keeping score after about 14 holes I was so frustrated. Still hoping to break 90 this year so we'll see how it goes. Could have done it two weeks ago but I hadn't played in a couple months and had a couple shots I'd like to have back on the first 4 or so holes.

I did get a new 3-wood and then watched a youtube video about how to hit a 3-wood off the tee and totally screwed up my stance for every club off the tee. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go to the range this weekend and figure my swing out a little bit. I smoked the 3-wood a couple times but I hit it straight when I thought I might shank it and was aiming left and shanked it when I was trying to hit it straight.

I think I can say my putting has at least been upgraded from bottom 1% to pretty bad. Keeping the 3 putts to about 1/3 of the holes instead of 2/3.

          Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Hardest thing for me now, is repeating my good swing(s). That is part of the reason my putting is getting really good. My putting stroke is buttery smooth right now. No surprise since I basically am putting when ever I am in my man cave. When my swing goes the way its suppose to its a nice swing with a natural baby fade (4-8 yards off center). When I'm not able to repeat it its either a straight left pull, or a nasty slice.

That is all I've been working on this spring so far is repeating my swing and so far its starting to pay off, after shaking off the winter frost. Scores are dropping and the strikes are getting better and better. Still have 4-6 swings a round that get away from me, which I would like to get to 0, but reasonably if I could cut that in half, I think I will be breaking 90 this year.

            Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

After this Tuesday night I'm off for 7 days. Really hope to get in 2 or 3 rounds.

Did some videos the other day to try and sort out driver more and found a key issue.
I've been compensating for my driver direction by adjusting my aim etc.. which is never a good thing.
So after an evening of videos and then using V1 software... damn.

Even though in my mind I was 100% positive my path was down the line or slightly inside out.. I was actually coming "over the top". Not extreme but enough to prove why I my shots were... Dead straight (Due to the compensation), duck hook left or a slice...

I was starting my downswing with arms and very late hip bump/rotation and every swing my hands were getting thrown outside.

            It was eye opening.

Worked on drills to get swing inside out etc.. the past 2 days and will do them every morning I get off..
I'm going to continue them and then hit range Wednesday with more video.. then weather permitting hitting a course Thursday hopefully.

Just got the confirmation. A friend and I will be playing at Sparrows Point Country Club on Sunday for free!!!! They are doing an open house. We played their last year on a groupon that included a $50 lunch credit, but it was towards the end of the season and my back and elbow were giving me real problems. Its a good track and I am really looking forward to it.

This probably isn't the right place to post, but I didn't want to start a thread over something so simple... Where do you guys get your golf shirts? I've always worn regular polos but I think I'd like to finally get an actual golf shirt.

We have Dick's Sporting Goods around here, but I was wondering if anyone shops elsewhere.

Ebay always has most golf shirts from Nike, PUMA, Under Armor, Adidas, etc for heavily discounted prices. Heck I've gotten 120$ PUMA pants on there for around 50$.

I needed golf pants that were 40x34 and they were the only place that made them in that size. So I've just been buying all my golf stuff from them since then. Used to be all nike, but now all UA.

So, I've been reading about the taylormade performance labs and every review seems to rave about them.

I've been looking to get a club fitting as I mentioned earlier and found a good fitter but thinking I might try this now as there is one about 20 mins from me.

Anyone tried one? My concern is obviously that they're taylormade and I'll only test their product. I'm looking at the RSi 2 and even the RSi TP so would be good to test them but there are other brand sets I'd like to try also.

Everything about it sounds good though.

I've never done a fitting with just one manufacturer. I've tested out numerous 2014-2015 irons including the Taylormade RSi TP this year at my local Golf Town. I would recommend trying to find a fitter that does all manufacturers. More options is ALWAYS the best when it comes to club fitting. Nike has hit a home run this year with their Vapor line of irons and I'd highly recommend testing out this years Pro Combo's or if you're a good enough golfer trying out the Vapor Pro's. If I was in the market to get new irons I would be getting a split set of Nike Vapor Pro's in the short irons and Pro Combo's in the mid to long irons. Personally nothing felt as good as the Vapor's felt. But what might feel good to me, may not feel good to others. Mizuno has some good irons out right now as well.

There's no "bad" iron out there. They all perform the same out of the box, it's the fitting process that makes the irons shine in their own ways. It all comes down to looks, brand preference and more importantly the shaft. Shafts play a huge roll in a lot of things like spin, trajectory, launch angle, etc. I play Titleist 712 AP2's. They blend a the looks and performance of a players iron with the forgiveness of a game improvement iron. Been using them for about two years now and love them. The current iron line from Titleist is the 714's. 716's will probably begin to leak out mid to late summer or during the PGA Championship. I'm basing that off the fact the 714 line was unveiled during the 2013 PGA Championship.

All in all there's nothing wrong with the TM Performance Labs as I've heard good things about my local one here in Vancouver. Just that like you said you're only testing their clubs. You'll probably be hitting the RSi 1, RSi 2, RSi TP, and the 2014 Tour Preferred Clubs CB, MC, MB. (I loved the MC's from that line amazing iron).

If it were me, I'd try to find a good reputable fitter that does all brands. There's always that diamond in the rough when it comes to fitting. That one club that you would never think about trying but gives you the best numbers.

                              Thanks mate, great reply.

From everything I've seen, the Nike Vapor Pro lineup (prob. combo) is my top pick from what I've read and although I haven't hit them, have had some practice swings and I love the look and thin profile from above.

But, you just don't buy clubs without testing them otherwise they're my choice. The TMs are decent and I know forged isn't everything but the RSi 2 only has a forged face and the TPs might be beyond me (10 handicap).

Have been researching the Nike's, TMs, Titleist AP2 714's and the Callaway XRs but Nike is my preference.

Just thought that since I can get my stats from the TM lab, I could apply that to other clubs. Is 20 mins away versus an hour for the reputable club fitter. Should probably do both.

Although I'm having major issues finding any club fitter that stocks and where I can test the Nike Vapor irons. Everyone only has the normal Titleist, TM, Callaway, etc.

Going to be hard to get fitted for a club I can only find available for purchase (not demo) in one store.
