Went to the range for the first time this season today. Short and medium irons were solid, I am happy to report it can still spin my my approach wedge! Long Irons, fairway wood and Driver were highly erratic. Might get to play some next week.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Thanks for the tips. When I shank my irons I usually hit them fat and to the right. I'll try what you listed above the next time I go to the range. I'd prefer to have a more traditional inside-out swing, but if I can hit the ball consistently with a few slight changes, that'd be great.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Cart only for me. I have a stand bag in storage but never have luck with them. I always end up screwing the legs up lol

I also found a good website that has some top quality shoes at a bargain rate (example, the ECCO Premier for only $99 - very hard for me to pass up, but didn't have my size) golfshoeplus.com
Good luck man - happy shopping!Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I was totally unaware of this thread until Matt posted in the recent purchases thread. I love golf and used to play a lot in my university days but haven't played much in the last 5 years.
My dad recently was given a free set of clubs from his work so he gave me his old set which are in amazing condition (not sure of the exact details but it's a full Wilson set with some nice drivers) so I think I'm going to get back into it. I kinda suck but I enjoy it and it's decent exercise (As long as I don't drink too much beer at the same time).

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played a round after work the other day, and had a rough front 9 (shot 47), but made some adjustments on the back (mainly, keeping the driver in the bag, and teeing off with my 3 and 5 woods), and shot 40.
I think I've mentioned in here before that with some grip adjustments, I've lost distance with my clubs, so I FINALLY manned up and accepted that I can't hit my irons as far as I used to, and decided to go one club higher than what I think I should, and my iron game was great. I was hitting the ball perfectly straight, distance was great, soft landings, and it made a huge difference in my back 9 score.
Rather than chipping for birdie because every iron shot came up short, I was on in regulation, and putting for birdie every time.
I hate myself for how hard headed I have been with my irons, and my loss of distance. Embarrassing that it took this long to make such a minor adjustment.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Last year I started playing on fathers day with my (late) fathers clubs. First round ever I shot a 126 and averaged about a 115-120 all last summer on eighteen. Just got back and shot a 101 on the same course I started on and my last five nines have been 49-55. It's fun getting the hang of it.....far from good, but much more consistent! The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

Wilson set? Probably the CI or DI - they are some nice looking irons regardless. I love Wilson equipment in general.
Hope you get some rounds going soon - post if you do!

I couldn't remember - but what was the grip change that resulted in less yardage? Is it more accurate?

I think we should all post our swings just for fun - even though I hate recording mine, it wouldn't hurt.
To start - here is my swing from a couple years ago. When I look at it, not sure why I changed it - it was repeatable and I was very consistent shooting in mid 70s.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
My knee injury has resulted in me just focusing on keeping my weight on my left side. So I don't pivot onto my right - ex: no weight transfer.Comment

Had a coworker volunteer to take the vac fill in for today and saturday... So I have a 9:00 tee time this morning and then one at 3:30 this evening with a nice lunch in between...Joshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Shot a 76 last week. That is really good for me and it is only the middle of April. My short game is not even close to where it will be in a month and my putting is not good right now either. I'm hitting my driver AWESOME and I'm hitting my irons better than I have in a long time. Fairways and greens have really been a key to me playing well this early. Heck, I've usually not even played more than 3 or 4 times at this time of the year. It has been so warm in KY this year, that I've gotten to play much more. Can't wait til I get the "feel" for my short game back. I think it could be a good year.PSN: Koolie_G
