The Superfast 2.0 got great reviews (i use the 3W and rescue and the ball just jumps off them!) for accuracy and distance.
    Believe it's 199.99 now.
It's what I would get if my R7 was out of commission.
I'm in the market for a new driver as well. Had a Mizuno that I loved a few years ago but the club head broke off on a drive and I lost it in the water, so I've been using an old R5 that my brother gave me. I don't think it has too many more hits left in it as I've noticed my distance decreasing lately despite being more consistent with my swing.

Just read some of the reviews and this club sounds great. I think I'm going to try it out Sunday and see how it feels.

Since I cant justify a new club when the one I have is ok I do the next best thing.
      Yard sales.
Last week my wife brought home a R5 for 5.00 (i put on new grip)
And just about 15 minutes ago I picked up a Burner Superfast Tour Driver (8.5) for 20. Has some normal wear and it needs a new grip. It had the head cover also which was cool.
      I'm happy ...

Saturday while checking out yard sales a lady was selling her son in laws clubs for him. They had a TM Burner Superfast (Tour 8.5 degree) tagged at 40.00
I offered 30 and she took it. It was in really nice shape but I didn't like the grip so re-gripped it Saturday night.
Played with it Sunday and while I tended to push it a bit my friend was bombing with it lol

Finally broke a hundred with a 99! I've been sniffing it with rounds of 101 and 103 but got there finally. I'm a 27 handicap and still find myself struggling but at least it's all fun and I'm down 25 strokes from last year where I was totally lost. Lessons from my uncle and a Tom Watson DVD later and I'm having a blast!
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

Anybody know some reputable sites online that offer discount clubs? Other than sites like Callaway Pre-Owned.

I'm mostly looking for some irons after I found that the a range's 6 iron is better than my own I acquired from an auction. The range club was some kind of Callaway Big Bertha.

rockbottomgolf.com and globalgolf.com are both good. I've bought from them.

Shot a 48 on a pretty difficult nine. After the second I parred or bogeyed everything! But don't ask about the second! I woulda shot a 44 had I not hit. Branch and taken the forest route.......

Also try your local courses pro-shop. Sometimes they take in trade-ins on clubs. In 2003 I bought a set of Ping I3's that had was played only once then traded in for a set of Callaway’s. The guy paid over $2,000 for the set, but I got them for $500. I have used them since then. I know you are not spending a lot of money at yard sales, but you be able to spend a little more to get a club in new condition.

The key to improving is to keep playing. I started playing when i was 15 years old. I played 3 days a week, most of the time just 9 holes or par 3 courses where it was cheap. I played four years in high school and three years in college. Now I'm in my seventh year of teaching ad coaching high school golf. When I started out I was happy to keep it under 50 per 9 holes. Now I can par just about any course I play. I remember the day when I got my first par, now par is the norm. Golf takes time to improve your skills, so keep playing. Set personal goals for your self to work towards. Golf is a game you can play until you are so old you can't walk. My teacher was my 85 year old great uncle who held a PGA tour card for 4 years in the 1950s. He would go out at 85 with me playing full rounds still shooting in the 70s. I also watched a lot of golf trying to mirror the swings i would see. Good luck dude.
Relax, it's just a video game!

Picked up the last wedge I wanted today. I'm all set now.
                      Picked up a 50 degree cg16

Can't wait for the next 2 Fridays as I'll be playing in 2 best ball tourneys for charities.
I love playing in these as its a fun time and a great time to work on things (if you already have a good ball in play lol)

Then I'll play a stroke round then another best ball tourney the company does.

                        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

First night of golf league was last night. I didn't even get out to the range to swing my new irons before this. So my first shot of the year was off the first tee.

Needless to say, I was happy with a 38 (3 bogeys, 1 birdie). Need to figure out the new distances on the irons, but I was never in trouble on any hole, just left a couple iron shots short.

EDIT: I posted this over in the vent thread too, but thought I'd put it here as well because I was reminded of it last night. Fix your damn ball marks on the green! And any other unfixed marks that you see as you approach your ball on the green.

Ok, I've become obsessed with my handicap and trying to get it as low as possible. I also love checking other people's handicap's on ghin.com

I've gotten my handicap to -8.0, which is pretty low for me. But I love checking other people's handicaps at my club and celebrities as well. Justin Timberlake has a -4.8, Samuel L. Jackson -4.2, George Lopez -10.9, Tony Romo +2.1, John Elway -0.1, etc. I'm pretty sure I will get mine down in the 7's, but if I want to make it lower than that I'm really gonna have to hit more greens in regulation. That is easily the weakest part of my game. I can hit fairways and I can put and chip, but knocking it on the green consistently from 130 and farther out is not as reliable.

If you thing you are off as far as plane and or temp I highly recommend the medicus iron (7 is what I used).
Once I got it down and was consistant I improved greatly.

First birdie today! Have broken 100 twice in three weeks and on the two other nines shot a 48 and 47! That's great for me. I really see the good shots starting to follow each other now. Hoping this growth continues.

Played 9 holes Saturday (par 35) and shot a 40. While that was very fun what kills me is I double bogied the last hole...
Can't be too upset though as everything is coming together.
