    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I've never had an issue with a Nike driver, and I love their hybrids. I used an R1, and the Black Vapor from last year, last season and the only difference for me between the R1 and the Nike driver was about 20 yards in favor of the R1. I have a Nike Convert 4-Iron Hybid and I love that club, I can really shape shots with it. Probably better than any other club in my bag. That said, I know a lot of guys who hate the Nike Driver.

My buddy got sponsored by Nike Golf this year, and he said he is still getting a grasp on his Vapor driver to the point that in competitive rounds his hitting more 3-woods off the tee. He is going to see about them sending him a custom Convert driver.

Agree about Nike drivers, though...never hit a Nike iron, but based on the driver, I have no idea how they stay in the golf club biz. I've never actually even played with anyone that plays Nike clubs, as far as I can recall.
Every once in a while we'll be golfing and hear the distinctive sound of the Nike Sasquatch driver. It's usually followed by a thwacking sound of ball hitting tree or a stream of expletives. Sometimes both. Then laughter from everyone in our foursome.

Yeah that square driver (the Sasquatch) was absolute trash. Never bought one personally but a friend of mine was on the hype train. Maybe one of the worst clubs I have ever hit in my life.

I've actually heard really good things about their Vapor line, though.

Back in the day I enjoyed their Pro Combo iron set but once I went to Titleist, I never felt a reason to try and go back.

My dad uses a Sasquatch and splits the hell out of every fairway, it's so frustrating to see someone so consistent with even the S***iest of clubs.

lol I loved that thing. I don't think we're talking about the same driver though. Mine was from the last year they made them. It's actually in my bag to bring with me out of town this weekend incase the Covert and me still don't get along. I hit it long and straight still.

BTW, brandon27, where you headed (if you don't mind sharing, and if you do no problem)? Treetops? Boyne? Grand Traverse?

Just want to put a good word in for Northern Michigan in the summer...maybe I shouldn't, because I don't want it flooded (!), but for my money, there's almost nowhere I'd rather be on a long summer day than playing golf into the late late evening somewhere near the grand (or little) Traverse Bay.

Unfortunately this time, we're not going that far north. You're right though, it's incredible up there.

We're going to be in Lexington, Michigan. It's a bit past Port Huron, right on the shores of lake huron. Lakeview Hills it's called. Someone I work with went there last year, said it was good, so we're giving it a try this year because it's only about a 2 hours drive for us, as opposed to 5 or 6.

Go to Arcadia Bluffs if you can in No Mi. Probably the nicest course I've played in Michigan.

I've looked into that one, unfortunately it's sooo far to drive for me.

My top 3 Michigan courses I've played are Arcadia Bluffs (North of Manistee, south of Frankfurt), Eagle Eye (Bath, near Lansing), and Pointe O' Woods (around Benton Harbor). Unfortunately that last one is private and I'll likely never get to play it again.

I went once, and it rained cats-and-dogs...I still wanted to go out (because I'm never over there...), but ended up sitting in the clubhouse and eating/drinking until it was apparent no golf was going to be played that day. Huge bummer, but I want to get back out there.

Heard great things, have actually never been that far north.

Another really good one that isn't quite as far north as the 'traditional' northern Michigan locations is Forest Dunes in Roscommon. Only problem is that it's the only course (of that caliber) in the area, and it's a drive to, well...anywhere from there.

I was wondering about these new irons of mine, as I said earlier, they're going to put 1.5 inch extensions into them. I've always played with standard length clubs. how much should I expect to struggle making the adjustment with my swing to the extra length?

Whoa, hold up. How tall are you? Do yourself a favor before you do this and go onto the Ping website and put in your custom info. Distance from wrist to floor, and other questions they ask and see what that website says your club length should be. It doesn't cost you anything.

I am 6'4 and I have 1/2" added to my clubs with the hozzle 4* more upright.

Just adding length to the clubs won't fix the problem if the club isn't setting correctly on the ground at address.

An 1" 1/2 is a lot and could render those clubs useless if they aren't fit properly.

I used to get clubs extended but they never felt right until I got custom fit and had the hozzle adjusted as well. I've always been a good driver of the ball, but my Iron play was erratic. I got fitted and went from a 14 handicap normally shooting between 85 and 90 to an 8 handicap shooting between 77 and 82 consistently with a lot more legit birdie opportunities.

Yeah I'm 6'2" and also have a 1/2 inch added to my length, can't remember lie adjustments off the top of my head but yeah 1 1/2 seems like a lot,

I'm lucky that I'm only 5'10", so my clubs are always standard L/L/L. As other have stated I've never heard of someone having their irons lengthened by 1 1/2. The most I've seen is 3/4.
