None of the other golfers seem to have the year over year staying power and caché…
Tiger was truly a once in many generations talent and phenomenonComment

Paying for a face is fine. Locking that face in for the future of the franchise needs to be a lot more thought out. I’m assuming that had Tiger not gone off the deep end, I suspect the game, like Madden, would have kept his name, but gone with cover athletes.Comment

Funny and after all of that Tiger is still the face of golf. Ask any one of them.Comment

The clock is running on Tigers name usefulness in that specific pursuit.
He's getting into "Madden" territory here soon -- which don't get me wrong, can be a great thing to have (recognizable and historic brand)Comment

I'd imagine these companies are all trying to capture the new/next/upcoming generations.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
Whether Tiger will be that in an ongoing way for a golf game is hard to say or compare.
He hasn't had a branded golf game in almost a decade, whereas Madden has been nonstop since the early 1990's
Different cuts of steak here
I'd still like to see him have a game (and he will!), but I'd be lying if I could say whether it will matter or not for sales or uptake of any particular game.
I don't really feel equipped to objectively comment on it, since I'm so personally biased towards liking him as a golfer and all the great Tiger golf games from way in the past.Last edited by scagwi; 06-01-2022, 11:17 AM.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
This talk about Tiger specifically has brought up an interesting point..
Assuming some dev folks remain from the EA Tiger days, and now that Tiger is on "another team"...I'll bet there is part of them that's pretty competitive about what they release and how it will stack up.
And of course, we KNOW Tiger is super competitive..
All of this should mean great things for us consumers (of both games!)Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
Madden is a phenomenal brand name at this point, that has basically zero to do with the man or his specific accomplishments -- most of which now have to be searched for and discovered online in the "history books" by anyone who isn't aware already.
Whether Tiger will be that in an ongoing way for a golf game is hard to say or compare.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
Football is king in the US, golf is a niche sport. Madden was there so long, he simplified the game for new audience for over 2 generations. Stars players couldn't care less about being name to the pro-bowl, they wanted to be named in the All-Madden team.
No idea how much Tiger will help sales for HB/2K. For the under 30s, the TW series was what grandad and dad was playing, what they called the ok boomer generation. And honestly, they're mostly right, it's us still playing golf games.Comment

EA Sports presents "Boomer Golf!"
New features include 15" holes for easy chip ins
Also, play as many of your favorite now deceased golfers
Built in bathroom breaks three times per round while the next set of holes loads upComment
