Just an interesting note that may impact both games..."Whistling Straits" joins the likes of St Andrews, Augusta, Royal Melbourne, etc. in the list of censored/asterisked course names in PGA 2K21. Here's my "Whistling Straits (Irish)" course in-game now:

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
To me, this means that EA's game is pretty likely to have Whistling Straits in their new game. St Andrews and Augusta are obviously in EA's game, as is Pebble Beach.
These are all censored in 2K21.
There are still some course names that can be seen in 2K21 that are also courses in EA's game, like Kiawah, Southern Hills, and Torrey Pines, but there's a somewhat obvious correlation between courses with censored names and their availability in EA's game.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 06-03-2022, 01:08 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Yes, and they already have it on the frostbite engine from Rory 15. So just renew license and touch up the course and it’s done it theory.Comment

Another I’d love to see would be The Memorial
Tournament, such good history and a stellar course. It has been in in the past so maybe a small chance.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
Opinions will vary, but on the whole, I still think Rory is the best and most realistic looking golf game ever made. I have some videos and shots from the tees on TPC Scottsdale that flat out look like a photograph or live TV footage.
...and that sucker was 7 years ago!
Of course I don't expect (or even think it needs to) it to dramatically leap from Rory graphics, but I'm sure it will be even just a little bit better and more refined for sure...especially if it's truly for current gen+Comment

Could that article talking about Jack and the issues including a new video game be tied in with EA trying to get The Memorial Tournament in the game?Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
"For instance, he [Jack Nicklaus] is accused of undermining Nicklaus Companies in its negotiations with an unnamed video game developer. According to the suit, Nicklaus wrongfully rejected overtures to license the use of his name and likeness for a video game last year. Nicklaus, the suit insists, had no right to deny the request. The company says it was then “compelled to expend extraordinary time, effort and money to salvage a deal” and asserts that “Nicklaus’s wrongful conduct sowed confusion . . . risked current and future revenue opportunities, and damaged Nicklaus Companies’ goodwill with a strategic business partner.”"
Jack Nicklaus is alleged to have breached a contract where he sold his intellectual property rights to Nicklaus Companies.
Basically, Nicklaus didn't want to be in the game, apparently. But it sounded like there was a deal in place that may have been saved, albeit one that relates only to his name and likeness?Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 06-03-2022, 02:59 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Here's more info about that lawsuit, and what the company that manages the likeness of Jack Nicklaus is alleging:

Hmmm very interesting. We shall see in a few months if he’s in.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Releases in Spring 2023
I would imagine his inclusion or not is quite the bugaboo if EA is trying to do a very complete Masters game again (like TW14) with lots of historical content, etcComment
