But imagine if it was and EA had been really showing screenshots for the past 2 years… and we didn’t realize it. [emoji23]

    It’s not though.

Nice post! Fanboy wars are cranked up already, eh?

Well, bye bye Brooksie for pga 23.

He was all but a lock to be in too with EA using him last year along with DJ and Bryson.

With Thomas sure to be in the game with his bffl Tiger, we can forget about him too. Slim picking for EA when it comes to PGA pros. Rory, Spieth, maybe Rahm and Fowler if they don't jump to LIV too... the rest will be a bunch of nobody for most casuals.

The PGA tour is altering is schedule starting next year to compete with what LIV is doing.

Is it too late to get the schedule in the game? (I'm assuming so since I don't think the schedule is known yet)

              https://www.golfdigest.com/story/pga...ign=golfdigest

Starting next year, the PGA Tour schedule will include eight limited-field no-cut events, with purses of $20 million or more each, for the top 50 finishers in the prior season’s FedEx Cup standings. Some of those events will be in the heart of the season, while others will be in the fall. Those outside the top 50 will compete in an alternate series of tournaments, where they will fight to keep their cards and earn better status for the following season. This change in structure would happen in conjunction with the tour returning to a season based on the calendar year, something Golf Digest has reported was being considered. The tour switched from a calendar-based schedule to a wraparound campaign in 2013-14.

All of these defections could not be seen but this is all the more reason you build a video golf game around video golf and trying to replicate that rather than around names with avatars. I do not care if there are any real golfers in a video game period. Casuals must I guess.

Why would any golf game try to lock up the PGA Tour license if playing as/against pros was not appealing to most people? Even if those pros are just names on a leaderboard?

Having pros in the game is a draw for many people. Actually playing as the pros is also a draw for many people. It makes no sense to go for a PGA Tour license and leave out the pros that make up that tour. They've been doing this for decades, I don't see why that would change now, even with the LIVers.

I’m thinking EA can save if they have Rory , Spieth, Scottie , will Zal, Jon rahm, Colin M. , hideki M. , Among a few others and the lpga players.

Most important thing is a solid player creator too.

I never thought it was a great idea to get involved spending a lot of money on a PGA license and using "pro" avatars in a game in the first place. I just want the game to look good and play good. But I am not most people. They aren't going to change anything

That might be a big IF at this point.

I'm on the side that having real players is a draw to the game though. A simulation career mode against real guys is important.

That being said, great gameplay & graphics would still be a buy for me. EA has traditionally leaned heavy on big names though. Tiger & Rory. Madden's big selling points are their X-Factor players. Will be interested to see what they are able to put together for PGA Tour. Maybe the delay is because they can't lean heavily on the names now, lol.

Poor Rory got the cover curse from his one game that was so bad , hasn’t won a major since.

Well you're certainly not alone thinking that way. There were between 100,000 to 200,000 customers buying TGC without a PGA license and pro. But with a PGA license and Justin Thomas on the cover, it went up to over 2,000,000 copies.

The courses are the stars of this game for me. While not nearly as important the PGA license probably includes the tournament names as well.

I agree with your take on having real golfers in a golf game, but to classify folks that want them as casual is just you being an *******, and not based in reality.

It feels like a part of the fanboy way to counter crap like, "Oh noes, EA won't have any golfers in their game" kind of crap. Using crap to counter crap.

                                Well done.
