sorry guys, just got a wii and I wanna play some gamecube games on it...i'm sure it's somewhere in this 100+ page thread, but I'm hoping one of you can answer these quickies: do i need a gamecube controller to play gamecube games on it and can i save gamecube files to the wii internal memory or do i need the gamecube memory cards?

I'm pretty sure you'll need the gamecube controller, but I don't know about the saving aspect. The Wii controller can't handle GameCube games.

Can I use the Classic controller for GC games?

yes, you need a gamecube controller and memory card to play Gamecube games on the Wii. You have to play them from the Gamecube disc, you can't store it into the Wii memory. I suggest getting the Gamecube Wavebird controller to keep with the wireless appearance of the Wii. It works great.

Yeah, the wavebird is a great controller. You can pick up a used GC memory card pretty cheap. I think I paid like $6 for mine and as an added bonus whoever owned the memory card before me had unlocked everything in Mario Kart Double Dash which was one of the GC games I picked up for my son!

Yeah, I saw some brand new third party memory cards for 5 bucks. No sign of any Wavebird controllers but to be honest, I wasn't looking very hard.

Wow... wife just came up to me and told me she decided that we need to get a Wii??? The woman that hates video games? Said she decided that we needed to get it for the boys' birthdays that are coming up march 6th and 8th (they will be 5 and 10) and that she had been driving all over town trying to find one with no luck. So I do some snooping online, see theres some in stock at circuit city in the south side... drive there, place is packed.. go over to the games section.. looks like its been picked over pretty good. Salesman walks up tells me that they had just got them in today and that they sold out quick but he'd look in the back for me anyway.. booyah! 1 left.

So now im home... had never even considered getting a wii. Didnt buy anything but the console, soooo I guess for the boys not to kill each other I at least need another controller?? Any other must haves for this thing?

Another Wiimote, which you can get if you buy WiiPlay, it's only 10 bucks more. The system comes with WiiSports, that's arguably the best game on the system. Zelda, WarioWare, and Madden are my favs.

Homer, try and find a wiiplay game. Its not the best game out but it some fun ones and it includes a controller. If you want to get into boxing you'll also need a nunchuck as well.

Nope lol.

That sports pack is a ripoff is you ask me. Plus I heard you have to remove the attachments when your in the menus to navigate. No thank you.
