    Re: Nintendo 3DS Announced

I forgot how awesome the art style was. Playing it on my 3DS made me wish it had some type of 3D effect. The top down style with the buildings popping out would look great!

They put it out on mobile devices, maybe they can put a 3D version in the eShop.

(I know it's not going to happen, but I can dream, right?)

Played the demo on Vita. Way too fanservicey for me. Also the constant barrage of innuendo regarding "classmating". Ugh.

Looking forward to hearing some impressions of the Mario Golf demo. It's undeniably along the same lines as Hot Shots (as its N64 ancestor was) so that automatically interests me.

I see the full game only has 3 courses though...I'm not sure that's going to be enough for me to warrant a purchase.

How can a golf game only have 3 courses? That seems way small IMO.

                Re: Nintendo 3DS

There's 10 courses. Three 18-hole courses in Castle Club mode and the rest are unlocked in Mario Golf mode.

Nintendo also outlined their first season pass.

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nintendo is offering players the opportunity to nearly double the amount of content they can play in the Mario Golf: World Tour game, which launches May 2 for the portable Nintendo 3DS system. With 10 courses and 126 holes (an amount equivalent to previous games in the franchise), extensive multiplayer modes as well as regional and worldwide tournaments, the main game offers plenty of content for golf fans already. But players who can’t get enough golf and want to expand their experiences can purchase up to a total of 108 new downloadable holes and additional Mushroom Kingdom golfers. The DLC opens up further challenging courses for players to enjoy as they test their skills (broadband Internet access is required).

“We’re letting fans expand their experience with Mario Golf: World Tour,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Some players might be content hitting the links on the numerous courses already included with the game, while others will appreciate the option of being able to add to their fairway fun with new courses and characters.”

The downloadable content for the game will be released in three separate packs: the Mushroom Pack launching on May 2, the Flower Pack launching later in May and the Star Pack launching in June. Each pack includes two new 18-hole courses and a new playable character. Players will receive Toadette with the Mushroom Pack, Nabbit with the Flower Pack and Rosalina with the Star Pack.

Each pack will be available for $5.99 from Toad’s Booth, which can be found in the main menu of the game. Mario Golf: World Tour owners who know they want to buy all three add-on packs can buy a Season Pass at a discounted rate of $14.99 starting May 2. Season Pass holders will get access to each new pack as it becomes available, and will receive a special bonus of Gold Mario as a playable character at the time of purchase. Gold Mario has a special Golden Flower shot that gains coins for every yard it travels. For those who purchase all three packs individually, Gold Mario will also be available once all packs have been released. Nintendo will also offer Trial Tournaments for consumers interested in trying out a sample of the downloadable courses before deciding to purchase. Consumers who own the game and download the Trial Pack will be able to participate in these online tournaments.

MSRP for Mario Golf: World Tour is $29.99.

Hmm, okay. IGN's review blows then (no surprise there) because they made it sound like there are only 3 normal courses and the rest were just challenges.

Extra course DLC is enticing too - I never had a problem paying for that kind of extra content in Hot Shots.

                    Re: Nintendo 3DS

Played the demo. Game seemed too easy.

1st Course (Seaside something) Played the 3 holes in -3 under par. Hit every fairway and green. Greens were flat and putting was very easy.

2nd Course (Wriggler something) Played the 3 holes even par. The course was easy to navigate but the greens were harder to read. Making a putt was difficult but everything was hit within inches of the hole. I could never see a three putt happening.

3rd Course (Yoshi Lakes) Played the 3 holes -1 under par. This course introduced obstacles into play. There were pads floating in the air that propelled your ball if you hit them. On the first hole, a par 5, it put a risk/reward into your tee shot. Either you landed on it and had a chance at the green in 2 or you hit it and went backwards leading to no chance at the green. I used the 1 power shot they give you per round to just fly over it. I ended up just short and chipped up close for my only birdie on the course. Second hole I hit my tee shot too far and landed in a small lake/puddle that they let you hit out of. I had to hit a 5 wood to get enough distance but made the green in regulation despite hitting into water. The third hole was a par 3 with the floating pads protecting the green. I tried to land short but ended up hitting the pad and flying about 30 yards over the green.

The challenge modes were the only real challenge. They were fun but the difficulty was less in playing golf and more in trying to complete the challenges. In the first (Peach's Castle course) you had to try to hit a floating star coin that was left of the green and still make par. The second challenge type (Mountain course) you had to try to hit all your shots through floating rings.

Game seems like it'd be fun but grow old pretty quick.

Yeah, I read that review too, along with the post here and got confused.

10 courses isn't bad....may have to pick this up before we travel.

Anyone know the relationship Amazon has with Nintendo? I pre ordered Mario Golf and Kirby's Triple Deluxe and release is nearly two days away and Amazon can't give me a shipping date. I have Prime and was hoping to get the games on Friday, May 2nd which is the release date for both.

I've read elsewhere that Amazon and Nintendo have some issues but not sure what to make of that.
