If your system is connected to the internet, it's already checking in even when in the low power state. You don't have to wait for anything. You'd be good to go right after your long day of work so long as that happens. Even if you don't leave it on (i.e. unplug it), it just checks in as soon as you connect to the internet. No hassle.

Re: Xbox One
It's a passive process (or at least that's the reasonable assumption most of us have). The only thing that would make it a manual process is if you had to string out a network cable to it every day for it to connect.
In other words, it should be fairly transparent and you only notice it if it says something was updated (the same process is touted to keep your games up to date) or if it doesn't work and says you need to connect again in order to play any of your games. If you're always connected it should just kinda happen without deliberate prompting.Comment

Re: Xbox One
As long as your XboxONE is plugged in and connected to the internet it will automatically do the checks without you having to interact with it because when you are not using your XO it will be in low power/stand by mode enabling it to download updates and do the authentications checks without you even knowing.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Only thing that 100% turns me off is the checking in.With my job, some days I work very long days and get home and just crash or some days I dont want to play.I don't wanna have to go out of my way some days and check in to a damn video game system like its my obligation. It's a damn hobby for crying out loud. What the hell happens if you dont check in within 24 hours?Has anybody found an answer for this yet?
It doesn't matter how long you go without "checking in". You could go a year without turning it on. Once you turn on the console after a year of not playing, you will need to have an internet connection with your X1 in order to play a game. At that point, the X1 performs the check in. Basically if you have your console connected to the internet you don't ever have to do anything different from what you do now.Comment

This post is precisely why Microsoft needs to better explain themselves.

Re: Xbox One
What most people are upset about is if for some reason their internet stops working for more than 24 hours then they wouldn't be able to play.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I don't know which way to go with my response. Lol. I would just assume most people understand this process. Then i think of people like my parents who would have trouble with just turning on the console. I'm not sure which category you fall in, but yes, if it's connected to WI-FI, then you have no worries.

Re: Xbox One
I seem to remember there was talk about being able to sell the digital rights to your games to people online thru your console but i could be wrong about that.Comment

Re: Xbox One
That was a rumor, nothing lately or concrete about that. You can only gift your license to people who have been on your friends list for 30 days though, making ebay sales difficult if not impossible/horribly inefficient. Used game stuff really can only be done with participating retailers that have access to clean the license (remove it from an account and create a new one for resale)

I don't think that this has been posted here yet but it is a good read.

One of the better articles I have read describing what Microsoft is trying to do with the One.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Here are what I find to be two extremely helpful posts about Xbox One.
The first is someone who discusses their conversation with Xbox's Major Nelson. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comme...son_at_e3_and/
The other post is from an anonymous Xbox One developer who tells it the way it is. Describing it like this " Honestly, if you care about anything other then pure games AT ALL. Xbox 1 > PS4. If all you do is play games, and nothing else, PS4."

Although they still have some uncertainty themselves, I feel a lot more comfortable in my preorder of the Xbox One.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Xbox One
They do need to revisit the 24 hours though. Just not enough time. 72-120 is the sweet spot for those checks imo. Or, hopefully they could invest in a way to have Smartglass check that you have/haven't sold anything. That would be even better than extending the hours.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Seriously. Everything he said actually makes pretty good sense. And as I said before, if the Steam thing came to fruition, I'd definitely be all over this thing as soon as it happens.
