    Not sure how to take the news. I had an XB1 on preorder with plans to sell it. Now though I think it could be the "family room" device. Namely for the streaming options (specifically HBOGo). Will have to talk to the wife. That said, I think MS made a mistake. If this is you plan and vision ride it out and see what happens.

    Now IMO you offer a similar system to the PS4 for $100 more. You are still losing on price point and now the features are similar to your competitor without having a huge public mea culpa.

      Your Feedback Matters – Update on Xbox One, Xbox One, Xbox, Microsoft

      "These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."

      I'm taking this as meaning that the family share and disc-less game play is out, that sucks.

          We simply have different viewpoints, I was excited for the sharing features that are now lost and had no problem with DRM.

            This news breaks on the day I got a Vita almost explicitly as a PS4 accessory, naturally. You're all welcome.

            Also just to confirm:

            @meStevo
            @majornelson @XboxSupport So the sharing w/ 10 people stuff gone now?

            @XboxSupport1
            @meStevo Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. http://xbx.lv/15kFTfp ^PC

              It's disappointing. I wanted these new features. No more sharing your library with up to 10 people. Really really sucks.

If we could ever have a Steam environment on consoles, that company would definitely have my money. Microsoft wasn't there, but they were trying to go that direction. Problem is, they buried themselves in stupid policies on the way there (DRM). While the status quo is nice, it's just nowhere near as exciting to me.

                I would love for them to say you could share digital game purchases at some point at least. But I doubt it now.
                I feel you Tracer. I'm just one of those people who are about principles, values, and how you handle your "regulars". I'm a repeat customer at businesses based on these things and will not purchase at places that place these things at the bottom of their bucket of importance.

                MS committed a cardinal sin in my opinion. They are attempting something shady to their loyal fan base. The gamers who made the 360 one of the best consoles. They then flipped that winning plan into something built to milk that fan base as much as possible.

                To me that is extremely low and shows where their importance lies. Everyone is trying to make a buck and that is perfectly fine, but don't attempt low business practice and attempt to force you consumers hands.

                  Can we get them to rename it to the XBox 180 now?

                  Also, Kev it has been proven time and time again that DRM is not the future. I'd challenge you to show me one instance of where DRM has worked. If you do find one, I guarantee you can find 10 for where it doesn't and has backfired big time on the company.

                        Definitely agree with all of that. I still personally feel that if they made their check-in a once a week thing, they wouldn't have nearly the same amount of backlash, and could have moved many closer to their vision.

                          Don't get down on the sharing.

                          If MS truly wanted sharing to be a system moving feature, they will find a way to implement it without taking draconian measures. Steam is working on a system for sharing as we speak. It is possible. I even had a post earlier showing a basic breakdown of how it can be implemented.

                          However, if MS was just using the sharing as a way of pushing DRM... it won't work. They actually have to be invested in sharing being the main selling point, not BS DRM.

                            I never said "DRM" specifically was the future...please read my posts:

                            Not really a fan of the news. I pre-ordered the Xbox One Sunday being fine with the restrictions.

                            Microsoft should have stuck to their guns and dragged people into the future with them. People hate change and complained so much that Microsoft had no option.
                            We simply have different viewpoints, I was excited for the sharing features that are now lost and had no problem with DRM.
                            I would have liked to see the future of gaming with features like "family sharing" though.

                              Seriously. There has to be some incentive to buy digitally soon on consoles, or else they are pretty pointless as it stands.

                                We'll it look likes the pressure broke the pipe..... Though there was some real great features (like Family Sharing) in MS original intent, this announcement to be honest is for the good of the whole gaming community.

                                I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of the deciding meeting of this change. And with that MS has updated their FB Page..

                                We at Xbox love games. More importantly, we at Xbox love gamers. Today we announced changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, loan and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Also, an internet connection won’t be required to play offline Xbox One games. We look forward to gaming with you for years to come. http://xbx.lv/15kFTfp
