Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Just want to point this is like 25 scrolls on Tapatalk.
I'm not into the PS4 4k stuff; until TV networks start broadcasting in 4k, Blu Ray start producing in 4k, and it won't cost me over $1K to get a 50", I'll stay put. I feel like this is much further away than the hype is currently selling; I mean, I feel like game devs are still tapping into the full potential of the current system.
Even so, it's not like the hardware is improving AND devs cannot forsake the folks with "old" systems. How will that even work...the same system and one can be in 4k while another 1080p?
I dunno.
To be fair some networks are broadcasting in 4K, you can buy 4K movies at the store and my 55 in LG tv is 4K and was $600.MLB: Texas Rangers

50" 4k Samsung for $579 right now.
a 65" Sony for $1500. 70" Sharp for $1600.
And those are just today's deals. There are a few every day like that.
A 75" non-curved for less than $999 and we'll probably bite. They're getting close.Comment

Catch Up is nice if you forgot something is on or want to start something over that aired. Like I said my only complaint is with the Meta-Data they use. I added the NASCAR truck race from Saturday to my shows so i could watch the finish later cause I had to run errands. I was listed as just "NASCAR Racing" so now every NASCAR race (Infinity/Camping World/Sprint) are recorded. Not bad, but can clutter up sometimes.
Sorry for writing a novel. I can't help myself sometimes.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm still trying to figure out what all the doom and gloom is about. We honestly don't know a single damn thing. There is not a single bloody fact. The entire last god knows how many pages are all being argued over bloody rumors!
Daniel keeps writing books and going on like everything he is saying and talking about is 100% hard fact, yet it's still nothing but bloody rumors.
How about we actually wait for some actual damn facts before declaring Sony is ****ting on gamers and declaring it the end of console gaming as we know and carrying on about what console gaming is or isn't supposed to be.
And just for the record, referring to the probably 75% of us in this thread who buy games digitally, who buy and play more than one game at a time, who buy season passes or DLC, or who are interested in the PS4.5 repeatedly as morons really kills the chance of us actually taking your claims or messages seriously. Why listen to the ramblings of someone who repeatedly calls me or others a moron just because I do things one way I prefer while you apparently are intent on doing things another way.
This new PS4 needs more USB ports and as Jare suggested, a DS4 with a larger battery in it.Comment

And just to be clear, I realize that PC gaming can be awesome, I was a gamer on the PC since 1987 to fairly recently. And yes I also realize the graphics and immersion can be much more awesome than a PS4.
But my point is PC gaming takes either time and research (to find prices, install and configure) or an outright fat bank account (to simply buy an awesome PC configured to game) and I have neither the time nor the patience to do so anymore.
The biggest issue I have is the timeline for which your PC gaming is able to play games at a high level. Notice I didn't say TOP level but rather a serviceably good one. I got about 3 years out of this most recent laptop which works out to about $450/year. For about that price I can buy my console of choice and be set for at minimum 5 years. And unlike the PC console gaming gets better and better each year that you own the console until the death of it as developers figure out how to program for a it and maximize the games graphics/sound/physics/etc.
I realize as well that the graphics/sound and things I can do with the machine were much more than a console but I don't believe the trade-off is worth it. Consoles just are more economical and require less free time. Maybe if I was single and didn't have to budget my money and time I'd think differently but to each his or her own. I guess PC gaming has passed me by is all I was saying, along with the fact that when I posted that I was a bit upset that my kickass gaming PC had been relegated to being a chump, LOLLast edited by ODogg; 04-05-2016, 08:00 AM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

3.50 update coming out tomorrow:
Our next major system software update for PS4, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), is out tomorrow! While we outlined some of the features last month before our beta program started, we wanted to give a more detailed look at the update and share some new info. Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
ODogg im sorry but you PC post is completely wrong.
I can post you my last two personal builds from new egg. First one was a machine built in 2006 which i gamed on till 2015, total build cost $600. My recent built in 2016 was $700 and i will get 5 to 6 out of it easy.
Smart Parts buying is not some crazy art, its simply looking at the best price point to performance. Sure you can go for the newest and greatest but you will pay a fee for attempting to chase that rabbit. Its best to stay right behind the newest stuff, they come down in price quick once newer stuff is released.
Ohhh and Daniel i've seen some post before where the sky is falling but that is mainly in the madden forum, you have taken that to a whole other level......silly man, truly silly.

To build is just too much time and work for me, for the returns one gets from it versus consoles, especially being newly married and a homeowner and my game time being at a huge premium. And as for simply buying one..well my wallet of course is now a shared one so....
I was a PC gamer back when PS2 was out and no doubt there was a clear and huge difference in graphics/sound between the two and it was well worth it to still be a PC gamer, but now, I just don't see the difference in graphics, physics, etc to make that a worthwhile difference for me to invest time and money into that it requires.
So to each his or her own...but I am going to be a console gamer it appears from here on out.Last edited by ODogg; 04-05-2016, 08:39 AM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

What I can't tell you is being a console gamer over PC is wrong. That's not my right and it's your opinion. I really don't want to sidetrack this discussion away from the PS4/PS4.5/PS4k that this thread is made for. Just wanted to clear the air.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Building a PC has never been easier or cheaper due to sites like PCPartPicker and youtube that have great step by step videos and forums. I can tell you the days of "manual patches" and "driver conflicts" you experienced during your 20 years of PC gaming are gone. You can even use a DS4 controller with your PC now. And you wanna talk about cheap digital game prices, look no further than the PC. I could tell you you could build a PC with more power than the consoles for $350. I can even link you a video (in spoilers) of such a build.

At some point in the next couple of years I'll need to buy another desktop and I will revisit it then and see if I can make a decent gaming PC but I'm a bit skeptical as to how long it will truly be a real gaming PC (which I suppose is my main bone of contention, yes you can build a kickass PC now but in a few years will it be able to even play a game at the lowest settings??)
For now though I guess my PC gaming days are over. Not by choice so much as by the limitations of my time, money and disappointment over my most recent (albeit 4 years ago) gaming PC failure..
EDIT: I watched the first 10 minutes of that video..I have no doubt that such a PC can be built, as I said I've done it before, but one issue is that it will take some time to find those great deals (of which I have very little of) and then again, as was mentioned in the video, in the near future parts of the build, in this case the memory, will need upgraded..which is more money and time. That's fine for folks who have that inclination but I no longer find that to be worthwhile..Last edited by ODogg; 04-05-2016, 10:30 AM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have a computer build from 4 years ago for just under $800 that even today is stronger than the current gen consoles. Could have been even cheaper but I decided to foolishly splurge on the motherboard.
What made his argument bad is that he was/is debating PC vs Console but using an overpriced laptop to argue against PC. You don't buy laptops for performance as much as you buy them for the convenience of having a mobile, yet fairly decent machine. You will always overpay for a laptop relative to what you could have gotten by getting a desktop, even a pre-built one.
He bought a $1300 laptop four years ago that he says can't play Quantum Break today according to the minimum specs. I spent less than $800 at the same time on a desktop build and that machine will likely run it better than the Xbone and on higher settings. And of course that is not to mention all the other things a good PC is capable of.Originally posted by ODoggThe biggest issue I have is the timeline for which your PC gaming is able to play games at a high level.

Regarding "fat bank", sure it's required if you're trying to build some likely SLI/Xfire, custom water-cooled behemoth of a machine. But only people who have the money to do that do that. But having tons of money/being rich is not required for an awesome gaming machine, that lie gets repeated way too often. Besides, don't you have both consoles? Do you pay for online on both as well?
You're right about one thing, to each his own. I'd say more but I know time and attention spans are short here, I feel like already reached "novel" status. Besides, this all seems way off topic for a PS4 thread. I couldn't help myself.PS: You guys are great.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You can "favorite" shows by adding them to "Your Shows". When a new episode airs it will DVR it using cloud-based DVR (doesn't eat up your system storage). You can also use "Catch Up" to watch a previously aired program that you didn't "DVR" but when you use the catch up feature you can't FF through commercial breaks.

Also, I have my Xbox One connected to my 4k TV and I don't know if it's the XB1 or the TV, but UFC 2 looks much, much better on that TV than it does on my TV that I have my PS4 on.... although, in my man cave my LCD TV is close to a decade old so maybe that's the difference. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
