All it takes is simple math to realize that creating an endless number of live service games was going to be a massive fail. My only regret is that the people who made these dumb decisions won't be the ones paying for them, or even apologizing. They just lay people off and look for the next cash grab, while telling the world that single-player games are dead, etc.

Re: PlayStation 5
Guess, I can finally try Suicide Squad. But, this is an example of a publisher going the live service and it backfiring on them. Like with Avengers or Gotham Knights, publishers can't just assume that a notable IP + Live Service is going to work every time. Definitely something that soured a lot of people on Rocksteady. I still would love a Remaster of the Arkham Trilogy or at least a next gen patchComment

Re: PlayStation 5 Multiple Console Question
Guys and Gals....
Am fairly new to PSN, I recently bought 2 additional Ps5's.
My "main" PS5 - in the living room has my account as the main account. Wife's PSN is additional to that one.
Second PS5 - I put in the game room and logged into it with my account.
Third PS5 - I added a PSN account for my oldest daughter. It's in her room.
Now, my wife wants to make the Living Room PS5 "hers" and be able to use the PS+ subscription that we have. Apparently, she is "locked out" of certain games because they are only available under my PSN.
How do I deactivate my profile from the Living Room and make hers the primary? Do I need a separate PS+ account for her?
Any guidance (preferably step-by-step) would be helpful.
Thanks,

Step 1: Deactivate Your Account as the Primary on the Living Room PS5
On the Living Room PS5:1. Log in with your PSN account.
2. Navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
3. Select Disable to deactivate your account as the primary account on this PS5.
Step 2: Activate Your Wife's Account as Primary on the Living Room PS5
On the Living Room PS5:1. Log out of your account and log in with your wife's PSN account.
2. Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
3. Select Enable to make her account the primary account on the Living Room PS5.
This allows her to access your PS+ subscription and any digital games.
Step 3: Set Your Game Room PS5 as Your Primary Console
On the Game Room PS5:1. Log in with your PSN account.
2. Navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
3. Select Enable to make this PS5 your primary console.
Step 4: Check Game Sharing and Access
Your Wife's Access: With her account set as primary on the Living Room PS5, she will have access to your PS+ subscription and digital games.
Your Access: You’ll retain access to your PS+ subscription and digital games on the Game Room PS5.
Additional Notes
- No Need for a Separate PS+ Subscription: One PS+ subscription can be shared with other users on the primary PS5.
- Your Daughter's PS5: Her PSN account can remain independent. She won't need access to PS+ unless you decide to share it with her later.

Re: PlayStation 5 Multiple Console Question
Spud, just go on your account and enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on whichever console your wife wants to play on. Your account has to stay on the console for it to share PS+ benefits with the other accounts, but she never has to interact with it and can just play on her account normally beyond that.
Your account will have PS+ wherever you log in so that's no issue. Living room, game room, it works.
Your daughter would need a separate PS+ if she wanted to do anything using PS+ in her room.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/account/ps5-console-sharing-offline-play/
So it'd be
Spud's Game Room PS5 - Spud's account
Mrs Spud's Living Room PS5 - Spud's account (set to enable Sharing and Offline Play) and Mrs Spud's account
Mini Spud's PS5 - her accountLast edited by SmashMan; 01-05-2025, 01:01 AM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
Sony canceled unannounced Live Service games from Bend Studio and BluePoont. Sony's push towards Live Service really hasn't worked out at all. Between cancelations and flops, there have about 8 titles in the last year or so that have been canceled or flopped. It's ashame, I've been looking forward to seeing what BluePoint was developing.
Sony should just stick to what they're good at. Single Player story driven games.Last edited by illwill10; 01-17-2025, 04:41 PM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
It's unfortunately going to cost them about all of the PS5 life cycle, but a important lesson has been learned. Just stick to what you do best and sprinkle in a few of those live service games. Thankfully for me and many here the college football games will save the ps5 generation for me. Next year is shaping up well for me with my style of gamesRetro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

It’s pretty wild.
I’ve seen many people jumping at the chance to call Jim Ryan’s tenure a complete failure in the light of all these busts and cancellations. I don’t fully agree, but in hindsight it looks insane to have pivoted so hard in this direction.
The sheer number of projects and amount of money invested in such a relatively short period of time. And that’s to say nothing of the Bungie acquisition.
What are we looking at when all is said and done? Maybe 5 billion dollars or more they’d take back in a heartbeat? Not to mention all the lost time for some of Sony’s best talent.
What a mess

Sony better be thankfully they still somehow managed to win the console wars Because if they had made this same mistake for PS4 generation when digital libraries were being built it would be a different story

Re: PlayStation 5
At least we have a good Third Party slate this year, AC Shadow(still have high hopes), GTA 6, GoYotei, Sports games, MGS, etc. But as far as First Party, I agree that Sony has put themselves behind by trying to force the Live Service model. They already started the generation out on some bad side because they said "We believe in generations" and remained cross gen.
Bend Studio could've worked on Days Gone 2 or at least a Days Gone remaster. BluePoint assisted on GoW Ragnarok, but they now don't have much to show for since Sony acquired them. BluePoint could've worked on a different remake
I get it, cost of development has skyrocketed over the years and length of development has increased. But, something has to give. I don't see too many gamers asking for more GAAS games. Publishers see the success of the major titles and want a piece of that pie. I'm certain publishers would love to raise the cost of games from $70. But, I'm alright if they scale back the scope of some of these games. I don't need a 18-23 hour story with 25+ hours side content with a vast open world. For example, I liked Rise of the Ronin. But, it didn't need to be a 50-60 hour experience, and that's not counting the new game plus mode. I would be happy with a great 8-12 hour story, 8-10 hour of side content, and smaller more detailed world.Comment

Also, lucky that Xbox put themselves in their situation. I can understand wanting to push Gamepass. But, now they're in situation where they are porting major exclusives over to PS5 now. I doesn't seem like selling consoles is a priority. Wasn't the rumor that the next Xbox generation will be cloudComment

What has been better about this generation vs last gen? The games look a little better, but not enough to really notice unless you're doing a detailed side-by-side analysis. And I think you can make an argument that some games actually look iworse (e.g. NBA2K) than they did last gen.
I have never understood the 'games as a service' thing, and as of this gen, I don't even pay for PS plus as I don't play online often enough to make it worth my time. Also, with the way things are going vis-a-vis availability of games on PC, I see increasingly little reason to be on a console at all - especially since you can play online all you want for free if you're on PC.
At this point, I see no compelling reason for any future console generations. I'm sure they'll make them, but I personally will be sitting out whatever comes next, barring some really compelling unforeseen reason to upgrade.Comment
