Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
O.k In addition to the 50 inch Vizio, I just read the latest consumer report magazine and they have the Maxent 50 inch (5020) rated extremely high. Does anyone have any experience with this t.v.? The price is currently $1600 at cosco, it is also a panasonic off brand so I have been told. My current 50 inch t.v. choices are:
1 Dell 50 inch plasma W5001c ($2400)
2 Panasonic 50inch 50px60u plasma ($2600)
3 Vizio50 inch plasma ($1600)
4 Maxent 50 inch plasma mx-5020hpm ($1600)
5 Philips 50 inch plasma 50 pf9731d ($2500)
I am doing my research on all plasma and Lcd at 50inches. Consumer reports gives a good comprehensive analysis of most brands(cnet does as well). If anyone has any comments to the screens mentioned above please chime in.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
A long time ago in this thread, somebody posted instructions on how to program the remote for the Motorola Comcast box to have a button press that would rewind 30 seconds. Anybody remember how to do this?PS4: aBayBates

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Well there is already a button to go back, I think you mean 30 second go-forward, as that's what I programmed mine to do. Here are the instructions:
1) Press the “Cable” button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
2) Press and hold the “Setup” button until the “Cable” button blinks twice.
3) Type in the code 994. The “Cable” button will blink twice
4) Press (do not hold) the “Setup” button
5) Type in the code 00173 (for 30 second Skip)
6) Press whatever button you want to map the skipPS4: aBayBates

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Well, having your 360 connected through VGA will allow it, or your 360 HD-DVD drive, to upconvert regular DVDs. As for 360 games, I have my 360 connected through VGA and it does a great job. I haven't compared with component though. I believe I saw a few posters reporting that VGA is an improvement over component.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I've got a 50" tv and recently went from component to VGA. I think it looks a little better, not huge, kind of like going from composite inputs to s-video I guess. I'd buy the cable again for $40 I guess so yeah I believe it's worth it, unless $40 is a big amount of money to you, which I doubt it is if you're in the HDTV thread.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I still think it does look better and it seems like it's worth the money for sure IMO. Plus it's nice that it gives me the flexibility to use a monitor if I want as well.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Is there some sort of a schedule for the networks that will be converting to HD signals? DTV said up to a 100 new channels by next year, or something like that. When will we start to see them?Comment
