Agreed. It looks a little better but either way its not like you'd be losing out.

Matrix, D* has promised those channels but wait to make sure they arent mostly LiL's first.

Most stations don't even broadcast in HD. It's not that the advertising is false, but you would be upset to see only your locals and a few other channels when in reality it is a portion of the 100 overall across the country.

      Question.

Is all the hoopla about plasma burnouts overhyped?

I mean, how long would it actually take for it to start burning out? I would figure years?

Do any of you own plasmas and how has your set held up?

Was the burnout fear a thing of the past?

Can you also use an Optical cable with the VGA cable to your receiver?

ODogg, since we have the same TV did you have to adjust the colors or settings at all?

I have one. I have had no issues at all. Played games on it, paused the DVR, watch tons of tv wit h a logo on the bottom screen.

Honestly, keep your contrast at about 40% brightness 45% and you will be alright.

I didn't change the color, I just changed lowered the brightness and contrast to about 45 as each were by default about 60-75 and way too bright (hence the washed out look people complain about). Once I turned down brightness and contrast the screen looked great.

candyman, even if you don't want to buy a calibration DVD or any of that stuff to "perfect" your picture...a lot of improvement can be made by just changing the default settings. Most TV's default at a "Vivid" setting or the like, so just change that to "Pro" or "Movie" and you are fine. A calibration disc or test patterns just further fine tunes those settings.

The torch mode that most sets on display have is nigh unwatchable. If you are looking for a display see if you have any specialty shops around, which display TV's and content in lighting conditions more akin to your home, allowing you to make a more educated condition (even "Pro" mode looks like *** at your local big box retailer like Best Buy next to those flashy torched plasma screens ).

I've had mine on movie mode since the day that I bought it and then also brought down contrast and brightness to around 40 and 45 that same day. It was too bright and makes me wonder why factory settings are so high.

I might get the VGA cables to cutdown on some cabling.

yes. hey man, I bought one and used it 1 time, if you are interested. Shoot me a price through PM. I have no use for it as my TV will only do 480 through the VGA cable. I bought it before I got my new TV to play the 360 on the my monitor.

                      Let me know.

jpup, do you know if VGA also does 1080P?

Did you get the official MS VGA?
