I have a similar problem, my dog seems to live to change channels by laying down squarely on the remote. His favorite time to do this seems to be the 4th qtr of Cowboy games.

Like I told SoMiss last night on IM, I didn't realize my cable remote had a zoom button. Either I or my cat zoomed me in, and I spent an hour trying to figure out why my HD picture was cut off and looked not as sharp. Eventually I found the button and I was all set lol

Do you guys foresee anymore price drops on the 1080P LCD HDTVs before the end of the year? I'm trying to hold out for a Samsung or Sony, but they're a few hundred dollars more than what I would like to spend at this time. I did see a 42" 1080p Westinghouse for just under $1100 at BB. And while I have had no issues with my 32" 720P Westinghouse, I'm a bit aprehensive about going with them on a larger LCD tv.

So I just got my Sammy 23" model yesterday. First of all, this thing is AWESOME!

And yeah, I really want to calibrate this baby, but I looked in that service menu, and hot damn, you guys are right... I'm not touching that. When you use AVIA or DVE, do you go through the service menu, or the regular menu?


Also, this thing is already collecting dust. I was wondering of a good cleaning cloth and TV cover for something like this? Where do they sell them?

AVIA or DVE just calibrates the settings in the regular menu (ie: contrast, sharpness, brightness, color etc...).

Only a professional calibrator should change the settings in a service menu. You can ruin the TV if you do something wrong. With that said, I changed one thing about the color green in my service menu before I had it professionally calibrated. It was easy and the calibrator said he was going to change that if I hadn't already. Just make sure you have specific instructions if you want to do something.

picked up a new HD Box for my new Vizio. I have a Time Warner box. how do I change the output settings to at least 720p. It's currently showing 480i according to the tv. Do I need the HDMI cable? The new box does not have HDMI but my dvr in the living room does. I think i'm going to switch out the boxes this weekend.

component cables will work. The blue, red and green ones.

Well, I only went into the Service Menu to realize it was impossible for me to configure myself (and I exited thereafter), but ever since then, every time I've turned on my TV, all of my settings have reset. Not only that, but I see a bit of noise on my screen now. They are diagonal wavy lines going down the screen. My roommate can't see it, but I can see it, so obviously, it's annoying me.

Did I just **** up my TV? If I went to the Service Menu and put "Reset", will it reset EVERYTHING as if I just got the TV again? If so, I'm completely fine with that, I can recalibrate from there. But there is wavy noise on my screen that I want off!

Nevermind, I think it's because Digital NR was turned off. I don't know why people don't like that option on... it was really annoying when I saw that noise.

Anyway, I was wondering if say Contrast or Backlight really like... burns out the bulb in the TV. Like, I know people don't want them so high because they don't want to burn their retinas, but if I had Contrast and Backlight at 100, am I really taking off life from the TV? I just wanted to know. Thanks.

I connected my 360 to my LCD tonite and my jaw hit the floor like it did when I picked up the 360 at launch. Just beautiful. I have it connected with the VGA cable but I have no sound. I connected an optical cable from the 360 to the tv, still no sound. what's up with that?

You probably need to set your TV to look for the optical input on whatever input you have your xbox connected to.
