Well that's the way I understood it, that you have to have certain equipment to be able to get DTS-HD audio. But I always thought Dolby TrueHD was more readily 'accessible' so to speak, so that more people are able to get it. Now from RockinDaMike's post, it seems he has the capability to get DTS-HD audio, since he is complaining that Star Trek didn't have it, which would mean he should technically be able to get Dolby TrueHD as well, theoretically. And my point being: can anyone tell the difference between the two? I've tried to find differences, but can't.

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
Yeah sorry I didn't explain, I have a denon 1910 receiver.
Yes there is a noticeable difference between the two. Much richer and you get so immersed in the sound, its like your in a theater. Everything is very detailed in the sound from someone chewing to massive explosions, you really feel it. You really feel the power, I get the **** scare out of a lot when there are explosions.
Recently I played Babylon A.D. for someone and you can really here the littlest things like Vin Diesel chewing to how crisp a gun shot sounds. Valkerie I watched last night and the scene where the planes invaded Tom Cruises camp scared the living **** out of me, from all the bullet blasts and explosions.
It really hard to explain on the internet, you just gotta sit in a living room with that setup to understand I guess. My guess is why Star Trek went without it because its a much bigger sound file that True Dolby HD, and there are a ton of special features in the blu ray edition.
I would compare the sound to when blu rays first came out and the sound was uncompressed, the sound from black hawk down was amazing.Comment

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
The ability to get both True HD & DTS-MA lie in the way the player decodes the audio file. If the player decodes the file, then it will send the file to the receiver as LPCM. (Receiver must pass Audio via HDMI)
If the player allows the receiver to decode the audio file, then you will get the sound the way it was mixed-in the studio as True-HD or DTS-MA. (Receiver must decode True-HD/DTS-MA via HDMI)This usually happens with players that allow for BITSTREAMING.
I have the ability to get both True-HD & DTS-MA. I personally prefer DTS-MA as it sounds much fuller in my setting than True-HD does. The other thing people have to take into account is the bit-rate in which the file was mixed. The higher the bit-rate the better that audio will sound.
That's why I love my PS3 & use them as my BR Players (Older & Newer) models, because when watching a movie you can hit display & see what the bit-rate is for both Audio & Video.Last edited by bigfnjoe96; 11-23-2009, 07:43 PM.Comment

Hey Blzer, out of curiosity, what name do you post under at AVSForum. I'd love to see what those video and audiophiles say about your pickiness, LOL. Not that you've said anything recently...I'm still stuck on the stuff about Dark Knight.

I'm sure you'd love to see my pickiness about Transformers: ROTF. No one else, except for a couple of others, seem to understand what I mean by it's not of the best sounding movies out there.
Watch this:
All I gotta say Is DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio!!!!!!!!!! Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is hitting Blu-ray and DVD on October 20. The full specs and Blu-ray cover can be found below: With more action and more thrills...
Here's the guy (in quotes) that eventually saved me from people harking on me just hearing it on an HTiB. It may be lacking, but it's lossless nonetheless and other movies "pop" much better than ROTF:
