Quantum of Solace is one of the best BR's out, up there with TDK. The PQ and especially AQ are TOP NOTCH. Worth every penny. Is it me, or are the prices slowly going down?

Got in early on the Amazon "Buy 10 save $100" sale. Able was able to snag 20 disney blus for $10 each after the deduction. Less than a hour later the price jumped up to $15 each after the deduction.
Pixar Shorts 2x, Ratatuille, Meet the Robinsons, Sleeping Beauty, Reign of Fire, The Recruit, POTC 1-3, National Treasure 1-2, Cars 2x, Chicken Little, NCFOM, Signs, Apocalypto, Pearl Harbor, Gone in 60 seconds.
Oh yeah, finally got my copy of The Island on HD-DVD. Paid $11.96 for the UK import. Gotta say the PQ is quite good along with the audio. Forgot how much action was in it. Scarlett Jo is always a treat in HD.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 03-31-2009, 04:42 PM.Comment

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
TDK is a stellar Blu-ray, but I'm waiting for an even better one for those non-IMAX shots. Unfortunately though, like TDK, I'd be willing to bet QoS will be a double dip BD as well. It's lacking in features and they did the same with Casino Royale.
Speaking of which, while this movie really does boast the lows and highs superbly, we seem to forget that CR actually does sound really good as a Blu-ray as well. Granted, it didn't use the same kind of dynamics as QoS, but I wouldn't be so sure to say that it "fell short" compared to it either. Of course, video-wise Quantum beats it by quite a bit.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but for those interested, Amazon is listing the blu-ray version of HBO's Generation Kill as being released on June 16, 2009.

And for you Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fanboys, Warner Bros. will be releasing the 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition on blu-ray and DVD in August. It will include the 3 original movies, plus the fourth CGI animated film.

If people wanted a good example of what I meant by edge-enhancement in The Dark Knight, look at Body of Lies. My friend who just got a Sony laptop has been doing some blind buys and it was my first time seeing the movie. It wasn't really much of anything so it's not worth a buy for me, and everything was pretty decent PQ-wise except the ringing around every edge of every "surface," including people's skin, etc.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
You may want to wait a bit on that purchase of that Sin City disc because up in Canada we had a bare bones copy come out about 6 months ago. PQ is fantastic and SQ top notch as well except for one glaring defect. There is a noticeable buzzing in about 50% of the dialogue. I don't remember noticing that in the regular DVD so I doubt it's from the source material. It's actually sounds more like static. Like the sound you get when there's interference. If you are disturbed by EE you're gonna have a coronary with this buzzing.
It's not my system as I have a pretty expensive home theater setup and no other bluerays have given me problems. In fact this disc inadvertantly caused me to purchase my new system as I thought my old system was causing the problem. (I was gonna buy a new system anyways, I just needed an excuse to do it whuch Sin City provided). I would wait on some reviews or search forums to make sure the same problem doesn"t exist on the US version. I only paid $13 for mine so I'm not as pissed off as I would of been if I paid twice as much for it. Too bad because it's a great movie for a home theater.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 04-21-2009, 09:30 PM.Comment
