It has bothered me forever what show I knew Walter from.

Watching LOTR: Return of the King, tonight, I have finally come to closure on that curiosity...The funny thing is I always thought I knew him from LOTR, but not the capacity he played...

          Re: Fringe anyone?

I know I'm really late to the party, but my wife and I just finished up the final three episodes off the DVR. Those were some amazing hours of TV. It's now firmly in LOST territory for us (at least in regard to network TV), and it's tops in my wife's book.

However, I couldn't help but notice two minor continuity errors:

          1) When Bolivia was walking into the office after returning home, her hair was red...it should have been blonde (unless she immediately dyed it, but Olivia's was still red).

          2) After Broyles is talking to Olivia about taking some time off after her traumatic return, she calls him "Colonel Broyles". Wasn't he always "Agent Broyles" in the normal universe!?

EDIT: Something I'm thinking, though likely way off base, is that the Peter is obviously the key to keeping things between universes stable, and that the machine isn't going to destroy our universe like Walternate thinks it will. As for the Observers, aren't they just there to keep things between universes operating as normal, to not interfere, and since they did with Peter, twice, maybe they are going to push him to make things right.

            1. The only assumption I can make is the ones you made. She either changed the hair color immediately (she seems the type to do so) or it was a minor production error.

            2. Agent Broyles is a Colonel. He is retired military.

#2 was likely spill over from the alt brainwashing/time spent in the alt universe.

As for the edit, it's never been established who the observers are or why they are around. All we know is that they seem to be following Peter/Walter and the events of the pattern.

The hair change back was definitely an overt act done by Bolivia. Remember that her colleagues Lincoln and Charlie weren't in on the switcheroo, so she had to dye it back before she came to work so as not to alert them to what had transpired.

I do think the "Colonel" Broyles think was a script error, but it could be as was mentioned here, a residual memory from her time in the Alt-verse.

It's probably a residual memory but it's not a script error. Broyles is former military. His highest classification was Colonel.

Everyone on his team would know that.

Ah well, it just stuck out for me is all, seeing how she just jumped right in as if nothing transpired without much of a debrief (save talking about the alt-Broyles).

I still don't understand why Friday was the time slot chosen. Are the ratings bad?

Were there really no other time slots they could pick from? It doesn't matter much to me as I watch off the DVR but Friday seems to be a death penalty for most shows.

Maybe the DVR is changing that, and I don't watch enough shows on FOX but were there really no other slots it could fit in?

Only other place was after Glee, and it's not exactly a good lead in, Glee watchers are much more likely to watch Million Dollar Money Drop than Fringe.

Fringe doesn't get great ratings, but who knows what fridays might do for it.

If they are looking for a lead in I would Imagine Glee is a better lead in than anything on a Friday.

Friday pretty much gives an audience of stricly Fringe watchers whereas any other day of the week offers a lead of some sorts.

How many days of the week is AI and what filled 24's spot? Monday nights would have been great.

I think it's more about keeping Glee viewers than getting viewers for Fringe.

Fringe was 4th out of 5 in ratings in that time slot. It was in a very difficult timeslot competing against The Office, Grey's and CSI. They had to move it if they wanted to compete.

Friday's is usually a death slot but if Fringe can pull the ratings it was getting on Thursday...it will be considered a win for Fox. Plus the show is one of the most watched shows on DVR.

                                Re: Fringe anyone?

The Ghost Whisperer did really well when it moved to Fridays and the Fringe producers are hoping they'll see a similar bump.

I still think their performance will determine a renewal and it makes me feel really edgy about this finale and season four.

Do the writers attempt to close the series just in case they don't get picked up? If they do, and they get a new season, is Season 4 the year that Fringe jumps the shark because the story will almost have to come out of nowhere?

If the writers don't attempt to close the series and don't get renewed, the fans will be pissed.

That being said, I think Fox understands the JJ monster. The man currently has four shows in development on various networks. Four. No one does that. It's like he thinks of an idea, tells a network and they say: We want it!

If they alienate JJ and destroy his show and anger his fanbase, he won't need to call them to pick up one of his newer shows. He's in such high demand, he can go whereever he pleases.

It's why NBC is very hesitant with the underperforming Undercovers. NBC has another JJ show in development and last thing they want to do is hurt their relationship.
