Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -
Re: Fringe anyone?
Completely agree.
I'm sure there is something like Glee or AI getting in the way though (I have no idea what the surrounding programming is at this point as watch this on the DVR.Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
Because they have to show Bones. Personally I think that show needs to go the way of the dodo, but that's just me. I hate looking at their lead actress, who for some reason reminds me of Trap Jaw from the old 80's He Man cartoon.Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
As someone who watches all my shows online, I forget that things like time slots, lead ins and the like, exists. I'm barely cognizant of what network a show is on. I usually only think about that when one of my shows gets cancelled, so I know which executives to cuss out.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Fringe anyone?
Akiva Goldsman directed the finale episodes.
For those who don't know him, he won an Academy Award for adapting A Beautiful Mind to film (it also won an Oscar for Best Picture). He's also written Lost in Space, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, and the film adaptation of the The Da Vinci Code.
He's worked on past Fringe episodes as well: directed/wrote "Bad Dreams" (S01E17) and "A New Day in the Old Town" (S02E01), wrote "The Road Not Taken" (S01E19), "There's More Than One of Everything" (S01E20), and "Peter" (S02E16).Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
I would love to have two Fringe shows. One with the team we have now and one with the Fringe team from the Alt-Verse. The shows would be fundamentally different but equally compelling, in my opinion.
The finale is going to be something else.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Fringe anyone?
I like the approach here.
Our universe is the enemy. They stole Peter, they opened the door, they created fringe-science related events.
Yet, somehow, through all that damage, they did something good because it doesn't look like Walternate is up to any good with his son."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Fringe anyone?
Awesome (cliffhanging) finale.
Easily my favorite running series. Even though there are many other good ones out there right now that I enjoy, this is the only one that makes me upset that it won't be back for awhile.
I am not a big collector of TV series' but every season of this show will be joining my series collections of WKRP, 24, and True Blood...Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
The twist was obvious from a mile away, but it's still a very good cliff hanger for the summer.
I'm somewhat surprised that the actual premise of the show has already been revealed, for the most part. Are there really any questions left with Fringe? I feel like the series is going to focus mostly on discovering truths (that the audience already knows) and revenge. Can this show go beyond a third or fourth season?

As I was watching that was my concern. It seems like they went too deep in the plot already and I was getting a little worried as to how they were going to end it last night. The twist was obvious from a mile away, but it's still a very good cliff hanger for the summer.

They ended up leaving it somewhat open ended, but I agree with you that they may struggle to get more than 4 seasons in.
I hope it doesn't turn into what happened to Heroes.Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
I think this specific cliff hanger (the style, the reasoning, it not being related to fringe science, per say) is an example of the writers going into Dexter-mode.As I was watching that was my concern. It seems like they went too deep in the plot already and I was getting a little worried as to how they were going to end it last night.

It's not a problem, it's just interesting to me. I wonder if perhaps they were once worried that the series would not get picked up for a third season. Early this season, there were rumors that the show was slightly on the bubble. It picked up enough steam and support from Fox to survive, but can it survive past another year? I'm not sure.
By Dexter-mode I mean that Fringe has already completed it's main plot and the cliff hanger is their way of going up against a wall and devising a new story. Dexter is written season-by-season with no idea where the season after will go until it is planned. I think Fringe has entered that territory.
Is it a bad thing? It doesn't have to be. They always wanted Fringe to be episodic so it's very possible that the new story that is planned out will breathe two more seasons into the show. It's not a terribly bad way to go about this type of show."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Fringe anyone?
I enjoyed the finale, but the cliff-hanger only works for me if ALT-Olivia is in the main world for most if not all season. I would love to see episodes where there are no references to her not being the real Olivia other than the differences in her mannerisms. I absolutely do not want this resolved as quickly as the bogus Charlie was.
I do love the fact that Walter Bishop is the big bad of this series as a wholeComment

Re: Fringe anyone?
There was a time when I would have been really crushed if one of my top shows didn't last at least seven seasons. Starting with M.A.S.H. when I was a kid, and continuing with Star Trek TNG, DS9, X-Files, Stargate, I was trained to have that expectation of a nice long run.The twist was obvious from a mile away, but it's still a very good cliff hanger for the summer.

I'm not so sure.
Now however after experiencing how epic(IMO of course) the 4-year run(episode wise) of Battlestar Galactica was, I'm not bothered by the possibility of one of my shows not going on and on.
4-6 seasons seams ideal to me. Time to establish characters and a overreaching narrative, without having to have so many filler and delaying episodes/storylines(I'm looking at you Smallville) Meat and potatoes 85% of the time, instead of 60% of the time.
Four or Five seasons is probably perfect for Fringe.Jordan Mychal Lemos
