I have this on the DVR, but based on the previews really had no interest in watching despite seeing every other episode. Any point in watching it? Is there any plot relevance at all?

Re: Fringe anyone?
Horribly conceptualized episode.
Anyway, you know this episode really isn't that unlike many other episodes where you have a one-off disconnected case and a short burst of main story arc info at the end, it's just that the rest of the episode was stupid as hell.
I also really don't get the mix of modern tech in there, with the cellphone, computer and in car bluetooth. I actually noticed right away that they had a modern aquarium setup with the very modern lighting fixture, little did I know that it would get much worse.
Am I the only one who thinks Anna Torv looks better without her hair and makeup all done up?Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
SpoilerAt the end of the episode Astrid was dropping Walter off at home and from across the street a watcher dials someone up on a communications device that looked like a compass and said something to the effect of "no, his son has not returned, he must have forgotten my warning"Comment

At the very end there was a 5 second clip:

Re: Fringe anyone?
This isn't the kind of episode that is going to be for everyone. I'm sure they figured that this episode wasn't going be a hit with most of the 18-35 male demographic. It is what it is. Anyone though who thinks that the seemingly wildly anachronistic Noir environment was ill conceived, and not meticulously planned out, is missing the boat though.
Also, this most definitely was not a filler episode. Plot and characters both moved forward, they just choose a completely atypical narrative in which to do so.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Fringe anyone?
Haven't watched it yet, but I did hear that FOX was having some musical week because of Glee's return.
I'm guessing this was the episode of Fringe that was 75% musical?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Fringe anyone?
I was wrong about Fringe. I thought they were trying to stay away from the story of the week idea, but it looks like they are staying true to their promise and delivering plot movement at the end of the episode.
You can watch last night's episode without having seen any previous episodes and found joy in it. Instantly you know that Peter left home and he's somewhere else and people are looking for him. That's all the backstory you needed. The dramatic reveal at the end is unimportant to that audience.
But like you said, kehlis, it wasn't surprising it to see Walternate. I'm actually very relieved that it's him looking for Peter. I know others have offered input on why there could be a potential war, but I'm still curious to know what Peter has to do with it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Much like Fringe, a casual watcher could watch an episode of the X-files and not need to know the background of the smoking man to enjoy an episode.
It certainly makes it more enjoyable for those of us who have watched it from day 1, but someone could have watched this weeks episode and enjoyed regardless of having no idea why Bishop is showing up as two different characters.Comment
