When you guys are talking about Alpert and the wooden boat, is that in the first episode of S5? I am not sure which part you are referring to?

I don't think they are U.S Army. Widmore is British, isn't he. He had an accent when he was young and now its gone. Very odd.

I thought the US Army brought the bomb (Jughead) there to test it out? Alpert said they offered them a peaceful exit from the island, but after they refused they had to kill them. I am wondering how they found the island in the first place, maybe it wasn't invisible at that time?

I read theories that after the others killed them, they took their uniforms and equipment.

I can't tell if he has the accent anymore either. It seems less pronounced at the very least to me.

The accent is still there. It makes sense that when Widmore gets off the island that he would live in Britain.

And the Others did take the uniforms of the U.S. soldiers and their equipment. They were definately there for a really long time.

I'm curious as to what the Others wore and lived in prior to the United States Millitary landing.

A theory: Dharma Initiative is actually part of a United States research into the island powers.

Finally got to watch this episode. Lost is amazing.

I say this maybe every week but there is no way anyone can say they didn't know what they were doing from Season One. So many little things beginning to fall into place here.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

A bit of a blah, Season 2-esq episode IMO. It doesn't seem like much happened and what did actually happen was pretty obvious...

Even though it was a bit predictable, it did move the story forward (just w/o surprises) as we're closer to having the O6 heading back towards the island and we finally have confirmation Jin is alive.
