Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Did anybody watch "Annihilation Earth" on SyFy on Saturday Night? I thought it was a decent movie. My only concern with movies depicting worst case scenarios of some advanced technologies is that laypeople who have no understanding of such technology will become overly paranoid about the use of such technology. For instance, I think one of the reasons people are so hesitant about various emerging genetic technologies is all the media (novels, movies, etc.) that depict the misuse of such technologies. My philosophy is leave the worrying to the people who actually understand the technology.
Spoiler
The basic premise of this movie is that in the near future the technology of the Large Hadron Collider (a particle accelerator) has been developed into a power source with several colliders being built throughout Europe and plans to expand it. However, there are no plans to expand it into the Middle East. Furthermore, a radical group of Arabs sees this technology as a threat to the Arab Oil Industry and manages to sabotage one of the colliders with regionally catastrophic events. Ultimately a chain of events is initiated that leads to a doomsday scenario.

Watched a strange comedy/mad scientist hybrid flick that featured Humphrey Bogart. It's too weird for words and is definitely the strangest movie he was ever in. It's pretty average so I give it 2 stars. Here's the trailer:

I introduced the Polar Express to my son last night. He loved it! I'm surprised he sat through the whole thing. He's not even 3 yet and his attention span is very short. Great family movie by the way.Comment
