I just saw Inglorious Bastards and I pretty much couldnt wait for the movie to end. The movie just seemed to drag out scenes for way to long. Take a few of those scenes and cut 5-10 mins from each one and then I could have enjoyed the movie.

Paid $5 on a blind buy of "Righteous Kill" on blu ray. Wasn't great by any means, but wasn't terrible either. Might be a good rental if you're a Robert DeNiro fan.Comment

Brothers: That. Was. Awful. The first hour was painfully boring. I wanted to shut it off. I couldn't possibly have given less of a damn about the Portman/Gyllenhaal story. The scene where they bond over pot was laughably out of place. Pot has no business being anywhere near this movie. I've seen the reformed man story a billiondy times before, thanks, Brothers for bringing nothing new to that story. Ditto that for the greaving widow story. The fact that the two stories happened to intersect did nothing for me. The movie played it too safe. You want to go out there on the edge? Have her marry the brother. Then you've got me interested. Oh, and the line "I don't feel anything. Shouldn't I feel something?" made me smile. That shouldn't happen.
Maguire's story was slightly better. But slightly better than diarrhea is still a turd. There was a twist, which again is one of those moments that illicited a laugh that should have had the opposite effect. Also eliciting a laugh wasSpoilerwhen the dude had the gun pointed at Maguire and all of a sudden the cavalry came and killed him. Come on. That's really convienient
I see a some critics liked this. 48% of Top Critics, to be exact. I don't get it. I see Maguire's performance lauded. I don't see it. I didn't believe him at all when he freaked out. It was everything I could do not to literally roll on the floor laughing.
Maybe it's over my head because I know nobody in the military, maybe I'm hypercritical, I don't care. I hated every second of this movie, minus the unintentionally hilarious ones.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Kick-***
Is it too cliche to say this movie was kick-***? I'd say it's the most fitting sentence to describe this movie. At the very least, this movie was everything that Wanted should have been, and then some.
Any time that humor can come from both the action as well as the lines without losing the comfortability factor is always a notch up. It's yet again one of those kinds of movies where we need an introduction of the character as well as the villains in their own separate scenes as they draw closer together until the ending. The missing link really was the "Kick-***" portion though, as you'll see that he doesn't really appear as often as you'd think. It's quite alright as we have other filler that greatly enhances the movie, such as Nicolas Cage's performance. I've never laughed so hard with him on screen, he was awesome!
Truly a delightful movie to see, many "Oohs" and "Aahs", and some great action and stunt work. There is passion and likeness to the good guys, and the movie is actually worthy of its length (probably just south of two hours).
BTW a nice work-in for the movie was the trailers leading up to it. When you get to see The A-Team and The Expendables beforehand, your testosterone level rises up appropriately.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I saw Up in the Air and Sherlock Holmes on the weekend.
I thought they were both solid but nothing too amazing. After reading all the glowing impressions of Up in the Air here i must admit i was kinda let down. The movie is enjoyable but when it had finished i was a little bit let down with the ending and it's not the sort of movie i'd want to watch more than once. I totally disagree with people (not necessarily on this site) that have said UITA should have beaten Hurt Locker or Avatar for best film.
Sherlock was a good fun ride, I always enjoy Downey JR's work and Rachael McAdams would have to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet.Comment

The edge of Darkness, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Sequel
Both movies were so-so....especially Edge of Darkness. WTF is with Mel's voice? Its like him and Danny Glover have undergone some sort of throat therapy that has mingled their throats. They both sound nothing like their younger selves.
The Chipmunk movie, sucked. However it was funnier than the first but still lackluster. It actually looks like the CGI for the chipmunks were worst.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Just watched this on NetFlix on the PS3. Such a great movie. The movie is about Bobby(Gordon-Levitt) and Katie(Collins) and the choices they make in life. It follows two different outcomes in a certain day. You are able to understand which reality they are in the movie by such things as the type of colors the actors are wearing. The choices that they make determine the path they go down in there lives. The two realities are based in Manhatten and Brooklyn. The Manhatten scenes involve action-packed thriller, while the Brooklyn scenes involve family drama and everyday life. The chemistry between Gordon-Levitt and Collins was amazing in each scene between the two realities.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I couldn't sleep last night so I watched a pretty darn good western starring Robert Taylor and Richard Widmark called The Law and Jake Wade (1958) Here's the summary:
Jake Wade breaks Clint Hollister out of jail to pay off an old debt, though it's clear there is some pretty deep hostility between them. They part, and Jake returns to his small-town marshal's job and his fiancée only to find he has been tracked there by Hollister. It seems they were once in a gang together and Jake knows where the proceeds of a bank hold-up are hidden. Hollister and his sidekicks make off into the hills, taking along the trussed-up marshal and his kidnapped bride-to-be to force the lawman to show them where the loot is
The movie does a great job of showing how distasteful a character Clint is without going overboard and a whole segment of the film really shows just how bad of a guy he is even when he's offscreen throughout!
The final showdown between Clint and Jake is well done and there's a humorous and telling moment as Jake who got the upper hand over Clint throws Clint's gun a ways and Clint says "I would've given you your gun" whereby Jake replies "you always liked me better then I liked you."
It's a western that kept my attention and was as much a character study of the villain as it was a rugged film.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Saw Kick-*** and it was a lot better than I was expecting. When I saw the trailers I planned on seeing it once it got to the dollar theater but after hearing everybody talk about how good it was I went to see it today and it's a great movie. Whoever put the trailers together should be fired though cause they made it look like a low budget "we know we won't make any money on this" kind of movie.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
