I have the Vibrant, which is the same exact device in a different design. It has the fastest processor, GPU and in IMO the best screen of any phone in the world. I really like it besides the GPS being non-functional at this point. I'm waiting for the froyo and GPS updates to take this phone to the next level.

I've heard late september for froyo.

Drops my GPS signal to many times. If it wasn't for that I'd prefer it to my TomTom.

It looks like I will be getting a Capivate next month. I just like it better than the Iphone and I love the graphics that phone produce. I am still going to check out the BB Torch though, but I am pretty sure I will go with the Capivate.

What are your impressions of the call quality and reception on the phone? These are my two biggest concerns of any samsung cell phone, and every review I've read describes it as average at best in that category.

The call quality and reception have both been solid. The earpiece and speakerphone are both louder than iphones i've had in the past. It does a great job of holding a signal in a bad reception area.

Some reviews say the call quality is excellent and some says its average, I say its above average. Cnet seems to like it too.

                      Hey guys,

                      Quick (Noob) Question:

I'm on a Verizon family plan, but my line is the main one. We aren't able to upgrade until the end of the month, but Verizon send me a thing saying that "if I upgraded to a smartphone, then I could do it early."

I want to get the Droid X, will me getting this phone now, prevent the other lines on my plan from receiving a new phone come the end of the month (the true upgrade time)?

I'd be the only line that has a smartphone/dataplan btw.

Can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.

I'm in love with this one. I've owned 3 android devices within the last 2 years, The MyTouch 3G and the Motorola Cliq and now the Vibrant. This phone puts all those to shame. The processor is amazingly fast with surfing the net or even moving through the screens and using the apps.

Now for reception and call quality so far for myself it has been awesome. The voices sound clear and "vibrant." My cousin has the exact same phone as well, and the only time i have seen a reception problem was when we were at the park under a bunch of trees and he couldn't understand what his mom was saying on the phone; then again it also could of been her phone.

But personally its an amazing phone.

Each phone number is handled separately so if you wanted to upgrade now, it won't effect any of your other lines on your family share plan. So if you've got two lines that are upgrade eligible and you choose to only upgrade one, the other one is still eligible for an upgrade whenever you so choose.

Dell has announced that the much hyped Streak will be on sale this Friday, August 13th, to AT&T customers. The device — which has a 5-inch WVGA display, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and more — will retail for $299.99 on a two-year contract and $549.99 off-contract. Curiously, Dell neglected to mention which iteration of Android the device will be shipping with (so we’re guessing it’s still 1.6). We’ve got the full press release for you after the break. Who’s excited for the Streak?
A fresh press release from Verizon Wireless has just made the Motorola DROID 2 official. You can buy yourself a Motorola DROID 2 online — at verizonwireless.com — starting tomorrow or pick one up in stores on Thursday, August 12th. The phone will ship, as reported, with Android 2.2 and have Flash 10.1 pre-installed. The handset will retail for $199 (after $100 mail-in-rebate) and there will be a special edition R2-D2 DROID 2 available sometime in September. Who’s lining up for one of these bad boys? Check out the full press release is after the bounce.
Sony Ericsson and AT&T have announced that the Xperia X10 will be available on Ma’ Bell, beginning August 15th, for $150 on-contract. The wrap sheet on the X10 is as follows: 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8.1 megapixel camera with LED-flash, 4-inch touchscreen display (480 x 854), 8GB ROM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a-GPS, micro-SD card slot, and a fairly heavily skinned version of Android 1.6. One-point-six? Did your gag reflex just kick in? Ours did. If you want to know what we think of the X10, you can check out our hands on from waaaaay back in November of 2009. Hit the jump for the full press release.
In addition to the Motorola DROID and Motorola DROID X, we’re told Motorola will launch a new DROID handset, the Motorola DROID Pro. It is supposed to have a 1.3GHz CPU, 4″ screen and global roaming capabilities. Estimated launch of November 2010
