Re: Superman Man Of Steel
You're bordering on trolling with comments like this and it's not the first time.
You don't agree that people don't like the film, fine. Don't insult my intelligence in the same breath.
I'll be waiting for you to tell me what things I needed spelled out since all of us that didn't enjoy the film clearly missed all of the subtlety of this amazing plot.
I just took pages of hell over in Steve's Forum for trying to suggest that broad statements about a larger group are insulting to people inside the group. I was roundly ridiculed and told that was not the case.
Here I say that there are edits that will clear many, if not all, the nitpicking about things "wrong" in the film for the LARGE group of people that unless it was on the screen can't/won't/insist it didn't happen. I.E. Spelling it out.
And you....take offense PERSONALLY and accuse me of trolling?!!
Maybe you mods and administrators need to hold a pow wow and get on the same page.Comment

Figured.

The invincibility is a problem all superheroes face on the movie screen when it comes to fights. I don't really think of it during the moment, but just about every fight the hero is gonna win.
Unless Superman is fighting Doomsday, there aren't many heroes out there that I'd feel like there is a chance of a loss.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Well let's make it clear. In 95% of action movies, the hero has no chance of losing. That's the reality of storytelling - the good guy always wins. But there are plenty of Superman villians that very much have the ability to kill him. Zod, Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Metallo, Lex, anybody that uses magic. If you go into it thinking "Superman is invincible, nothing can hurt him," then yeah, you're going to have a hard time buying any of his fight scenes. But a more accurate way of thinking would be "it takes a lot more to hurt him".
I personally didn't mind the long drawn out fights. I think Superman has to be in long fights especially if he's fighting other Supers.
And them being "invincible" actually piqued my interest because as I watched the last fight scene I wondered, well, how the heck is this gonna end?!
I wasn't satisfied with how it was resolved because to me it made the entire fight worthless, though I do accept the notion that it took the drawn out fight to tire the enemy enough to perform such a resolution. It still was underwhelming to me.
No amount of subtlety changes that. It's just personal preference. But that's why I never joked on anyone for liking the film. I made sure to point out that many will like it and they should; I however did not for my own reasons.
And when others insinuate that I wasn't smart enough to read between the lines or perhaps dealt with a noisy crowd, it sounds like people that liked the film need to defend their own position for reasons unexplained. No one that didn't like the film ever told others they were sheep that like big explosions and know no better. Yet I have felt that those that did not enjoy it have constantly faced questions about their own personal preferences.
And I talked about two things in one with my response here but it spilled over since I believe the topic of the drawn out fight was related to yay or nay opinions.

You want me to come up with a list of all the things YOU have a problem with about the film? But you don't want me to insult your intelligence?

Next time you tell people they didn't understand the movie, make sure you got reasons why or you'll definitely be trolling with an agenda.

You have allready shown you didn't understand parts of the film. It took several posters to point out your earlier criticisms of Superman only saving four people in the film...was wrong. So wrong.
And yet here we are...you trying to wax all toughguy because you take offense to the idea you were "implied" to need things spelled out for you....when you DID need things explained to you.
So what you really meant was I needed someone to point out why Superman was saving everyone?
One scene caused you to say all that?
That one post which had already been a dead issue pages ago is the reason for your post?
Sure.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Yeah, like you said, the hero is going to win. Deep down we all know that. We all know when the timer is running down, Joe Hero is gonna figure it out. But a well-written plot and high stakes can draw us into the possibility of failure with an hour left in the film.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I never said I wasn't wrong in that part. You implied there were things people are complaining about that required they needed things spelled out for them.
So what you really meant was I needed someone to point out why Superman was saving everyone?
One scene caused you to say all that?
That one post which had already been a dead issue pages ago is the reason for your post?
Sure.
Of course the internet proved them wrong.
I rationally said that an extended cut probably addressed a lot of other issues people were having with the film. That the filmmakers cut for time and what they thought was clear intent but instead needed spelled out for some.
Here's where you took umbrage...
"You're trolling...It's a personal attack...make me a list...when did I need something spelled out?... I was wrong but that doesn't mean I needed it spelled out for me...it's a dead issue. "
I am not "implying" people need things spelled out for them...I am flat out saying it because this thread is full of people having to be explained about the Kryptonian gene pool, The World Engine, Metropolis collateral damage and so on.
You want to not be offended...pay more attention during the film.Comment

Now you're bringing up things no one even asked in this thread.
As I suspected, your post was drivel. Maybe it was meant for another board? I don't know.
But we are going nowhere here and you're still implying people weren't paying attention when it sounds like you're just talking about things from the comics.
Edit: It seems my point isn't coming across to you and I don't know why. I never said you were trolling but you keep saying I did. I never said I was wrong but it doesn't mean I don't need things spelled out for me. You're making things up which is exactly my point.
I don't recall anyone asking what any of the things you mentioned were about. People disagreed with the concepts and you took it to another level and implied they needed it spelled out for them to get it.
We get it. We just didn't like it.
You continue to defend the movie like you made it.

And you've made veiled threats about me trolling TWICE on this thread (Do you only skim your own posts too?) and I understand that might be your go to debate tactic but don't act like you don't understand what a mod waving that lil' sword is all about. You're better than that...even when you're talking about yourself in the third person.
Yes, I have robustly defended a movie I liked while you, Sir, just seem to be lurking around reminding everybody you didn't. Is there not a puppy forum on the site you can go to and tell everybody you're a cat person over and over? Maybe you can call a person who likes Poodles a borderline troll with an agenda. Good times.
