Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
My budget is anywhere from $900 to $1500. Kind of a broad range, but just received a bonus check from work for around $900. Are there any plasmas that are decent in ambient light (windows, lights, etc)?PSN: sportdan30

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I would recommend the Panasonic "G20/25". Amazon has a great deal right now for the 54" at $1239. We have a large window to the side of the set and during the day it is fine with light. The "G" and "VT" have their AR filter bonded to the panel which helps with lighting.Comment

I think the Sony or Panny will probably be a step up in picture quality.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
So I had actually bought the extended warranty from Best Buy on my set 3 years ago. Lately, I've had a green line down the right side (about 1/4 of the way in), and am able to exchange my set. I never buy the warranty, but did this time and it has actually worked out.
I'm considering this set: Samsung UN46C6900 I've read some very good things about it. Anyone have any experience with this set? 46" is the biggest size I want to go due to my room. Thanks!MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

That's a pretty steep price for a HDTV that is under 50 inches and no 3D. You can probably find a better value, IMO.Comment

After looking, I may also consider this one. Only $100 more. Samsung c8000Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I'm getting a $950 credit from my old TV, so I figured this would be the time to upgrade. I really have no interest in 3D, but I would like to get a quality TV. I'll probably go with it. Now I just need to take my old one up to Best Buy and get the new one.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

The D Series Samsung models are coming out this month so I would hold off.
The 8000 Series LED model makes me want to do dirty things to myself:

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Talk about crazy. So we decided yesterday that we were going to move our bedroom back upstairs for a few reasons and the most being is that we need the extra space for a family room as the family room upstairs wasn't cutting it. Now it's like I wish I would have gone with a bigger set if I would have known this. LOL! Oh well, in a few years I guess. The good thing now is that the plasma will be going into a room where I have complete control of the lighting which should be even better.Comment
