That one took him a little longer (had to use the service menu for most of it) but all in all, both sets are noticeably better looking in all regards. He was a really knowledgeable, friendly guy as well that doesn't mind you looking over his shoulder at his laptop screen while he works and/or asking questions regarding the process. I am so happy that I decided to have him out and would also recommend his services to anyone else in our area.

He also complimented the way I set my surround sound system up (was especially complimentary about my speaker placement) in such a way that I truly didn't need his help with that, which was nice!

I hope that more companies take notice with what Samsung has done with their 2010 and future TV sets by not needing to go into the SM anymore. Wish my Panny from last year had this option, going into the SM is such a PITA.

You're not kidding! I feel like I am decently knowledgeable enough with a lot of stuff regarding the inner workings of televisions, but that service menu made me feel like a complete n00b for sure.

Here are the calibration reports for both of my sets that he did today. Pretty cool stuff!

Looks good, did he not touch the gamma slider? Did he enable your Cal Day and Night

Day and night settings don't need to be touched on my main display because my theater room is always completely dark, even during the day. And by dark I mean pitch black.

I updated the firmware in my Samsung LCD and it totally wiped out all of my picture settings. Ugghhhhhh

Would you mind jotting down the picture settings for your 40A750? I have the same TV.

                    Thanks

I'm looking to buy a 32" - 42" inch TV for my bedroom in new apartment. I'll be using this TV primarily for playing sports video games and watching a lot of sports (mostly hockey). I was wondering what you guys could recommend for me to look at. I'm not looking to spend more than 500 - 600 bucks as I'm really trying to get a bang for my buck. Due to the size I'm looking for, I'm guessing LCD is the way to go. Do you guys have any recommendations or TV's you like for sports gaming / watching sports?
You should be able to find a 37-40 inch 1080p LCD in your price range. I'd start the search at Amazon.com. can't beat free shipping.

I can give you my basic user settings, but to REALLY calibrate these older sets you have to use the service menu which I never plan to enter again as long as I live.

Hey 55, how do you have your surround sound system set up? My set up is not exactly conventional, but I always like hearing what others have to offer. I am debating on where to put my sub-woofer. I had it behind the seating, but that didn't work out for everyone, so now I am looking to move it to the front of the viewing.

Thanks. I have lurked in this thread FOREVER!

I only have gone into the SM for my Panny to look at the amount of hours on the set. Other than that I try not to fiddle with anything in there. My next set I'd like to get somewhere in the 59-64" range, even though I think that the 59" would be ideal. I want a larger screen for movies, can care less to play games on such a large screen. I'm on a 50" right now, but the thought of another 9" of screen size would make 2:35 AR movies even better for viewing.

You should put the sub on the floor to the left of the tv.
