Read what Artman said, because he is correct. No, QLED is not Samsung's OLED... but it was supposed to be.

This is why I don’t understand why Samsung doesn’t get into the OLED tv market.

Because they were going to try and go for a self-emitting technology, previously named 'QLED'.

The QLED name now is just a marketing ploy (I have a post somewhere that explains it), and has nothing to do with what they're hopefully going to bring out in the next 3-5 years. Since they've already invested so much R&D resource funds into it, I guess they're just going to continue with it or sometime abandon it. I hope they don't, because I'm looking forward to it.

But what they wanted to roll out with the QLED name two years ago has nothing to do with what they're calling QLED now. Think of it like... pretend like the Disney film Frozen was originally planned, and then they released a film called Frozen based on the three skiers trapped on the chairlift. Name is the same, result is not even close to similar. Now the real problem is I don't know what they're going to name the emissive technology QLED that they were attacking before.

Last I heard, they had trouble figuring out the lifespan of the blue-color QD materials for that technology. Don't know if that tech is readily available anytime soon, but I'm holding onto hope that it will rival OLED when ready, and possibly even be cheaper out the door to boot.

Ah ok. Something I read said Sony’s OLED is LGs screens. I guess that’s similar to the iPhone screens are Samsungs.

The QLED is a quantum dot display, different technology than OLED.

I’m struggling with finding proper calibration settings for my LG B7. I am currently using Rtings settings, but they don’t go any deeper than SDR. Looking for settings that could help with the following:

          - Cable TV
          - Gaming on PS4 (SDR/HDR)
          - Movies (SDR/HDR)

Any other credible options available? Tons of opinions out there but would like a more professional outlook.

Bestbuy Canada is offering the LG OLED 55" C7 for $1999.99 ($700 off).
The ratings/reviews on this model are incredible.
So tempted to pick it up.

Looking to grab a 4k gaming only TV. Thoughts on the TCL S Series? Target has a great deal on TVs today. Viewing angle is straight on and I a, about 70 inches from the TV.

Take a look at this video, which compares all of the televisions in the line:

                    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jYvk9vEfVuM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

At least this tells you have TCL is able to do in this line. So far the P series is the only recommended one in my view, mostly because it's not full HDR and it's edge-lit.

I really want the P series but Target isn’t carrying it unfortunately. Is there a gaming TV you’d recommend that’s in the 50 inches and under 4K category?

                        Ask Scott, haha.

Best Buy is offering up the P series, if that matters.

I finally went with the TCL 55P605. 599.99 at BB. This thread has been very helpful in making a decision. In the end, with how much praise the TV has received, here and through various reliable sources, I think it's a no-brainer.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

If you have the budget you could hire a professional to come do it.

I've read good things about this calibrator. He travels around the country doing calibrations. It's not cheap though
